Hollywood’s biggest night is here. The Oscars 2024 is the grand finale of the awards season, bringing together celebrities and major figures from the film industry to celebrate their artistic achievements. The Oscars red carpet is also a place for stars to make a style statement, which is what Asian celebrities did.
Michelle Yeoh waved the flag for Asian designers when she arrived at the glitzy event. The Malaysian actress’s custom sequin gown from Balenciaga was exquisite, but what’s worthy of applause was her choice of jewels: a pair of diamond and sapphire earrings from the Taiwanese jewellery brand, Cindy Chao The Art Jewel. Although Yeoh didn’t take home an award for the night, she shined like every bit the winner in her glittering gown, which she paired with black opera gloves and black heels. Her ensemble for the evening was much more dramatic than the white Dior dress she wore to the Oscars last year, where she made history by winning the Best Actress award for her role in Everything, Everywhere All At Once.
Elsewhere, Past Lives actress Greta Lee continued her Loewe streak on the red carpet. You may recall that Lee is an ambassador for the Spanish fashion brand, and has sported many of its striking designs all throughout the awards season this year, including at the 2024 Golden Globes. Her latest look was equally elegant, and pulled straight from Loewe’s Fall/Winter 2024 runway show that was just presented at Paris Fashion Week. Lee’s draped dress came in black and white, which seems to be a key trend at the Oscars this year. See Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. The Never Have I Ever star opted for a black and white princess gown from Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad, setting her apart from the many celebrities who wore haute couture creations from French fashion brands.
