The world’s most popular phone case brand has launched a new line of products that are set to take over your Instagram feed. Dubbed Essentials by Casetify, the sleek collection features a gorgeous range of neutral colours—with delicious names like Oat, Latte, Cacao, and of course, style staples: Black and White—applied to a pleasingly ergonomic case shaped named the Ripple. Other accessories in the collection include Airpods cases, Apple Watch straps, and the brand’s popular Rope Cross-body Strap. The collection is available now online.
What’s red, white, and has flowers all over it? It’s Christian Louboutin’s new collaboration with Japanese artist Shun Sudo, which just launched in Singapore. The two have come together to create the Button Flower Blossoms collection, which sees Sudo’s joyful, colourful artwork splashed across a range of Louboutin’s bags and shoes.
The collaboration between Louboutin and Sudo blossomed from a mutual appreciation for each other’s work. Sudo, a contemporary artist based in Tokyo and New York, is known for his paintings that bear pop art and street art sensibilities. A recurring motif in his work is the button flower, a symbol of bringing two separate things together.
Louboutin found a connection between his red-soled creations and Sudo’s art, saying, “Since the very beginning of my career I’ve [had] one emblematic flower: the Pensee, my first design to receive the red sole. He has his own one: the Button Flower that appeared to become the centre of the collection.”
Indeed, the Christian Louboutin x Shun Sudo collaboration is blooming with them. Flowers appear on Louboutin’s signature Loubishark sneakers and Miss Jane pumps, as well as on everyday loafers and sandals. “[Sudo’s] technique is very characteristic and I did my best to transcript this painting effect on the shoes,” says Louboutin.
For accessories, the pair have also created a crossbody bag, a backpack and a tote bag adorned with Sudo’s prints. These can be spruced up with bag charms from the collaboration, which come in red and orange.
The Christian Louboutin x Shun Sudo collaboration is sure to bring a smile to your face, especially since it has launched in Singapore—the only location in Southeast Asia, besides Thailand, to offer the collection. You’ll find the exclusive pieces, including a limited-edition skateboard, now available at the Christian Louboutin store in Ion Orchard.
If you’re looking for clothes that are chic and casual, Mardi Mercredi may be right up your alley. The South Korean fashion label, founded in 2018 by designer Park Hwa-Mok and his wife Lee Soo-Hyun, has already made fans out the country’s coolest It-girls: Blackpink’s Jennie, NewJeans’s Minji, IVE’s Won Young and Red Velvet’s Seulgi, to name a few. And as its Instagram page shows us, the fashion brand’s flower power aesthetic has also taken over the streets of Hong Kong, China and Japan.
You can soon add Singapore to that list. Mardi Mercredi is opening its first (and largest) pop-up here on 29 February. Expect to find pieces from the fashion brand’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, which was modelled by South Korean actress Kim Go-Eun. The collection has everything you need to nail this season’s preppy fashion trend, including stylish sweatshirts, striped rugby shirts and colourful polo tees. True to Mardi Mercedi’s fun, feminine spirit, there is also a handful of girly pieces to consider, like gingham skirts, lace-trimmed sweatshorts, and T-shirts bearing the brand’s signature flower motif. Mardi Mercredi’s pop-up will run until 29 March at the SocietyA store in Ngee Ann City. While you’re there, be sure to take a tour of the store, which was recently renovated. The multilabel boutique is home to an array of fashion and beauty brands, so don’t be surprised if you leave with more than one shopping bag.
The bold, wraparound sunglasses of Gentle Monster and Maison Margiela’s first eyewear collaboration are back—and this time, they come in leather. The MM104 Leather LBL1 shades, as they’re called, feature acetate frames wrapped in leather as a nod to Maison Margiela’s “artisanal” ethos. There are even more handcrafted leather sunglasses to be found in the fashion brand’s 2024 Gentle Monster collaboration, ranging from square frames to cat-eye styles in classic colours like black, white, grey and blue. Once you’ve wrapped your head around those, take a look at the collection’s mask-shaped sunglasses, which come with a sculpted nose and no temples. Yes, you read that right. The second Gentle Monster x Maison Margiela collaboration will launch globally on 7 March with a total of 17 styles to choose from. Each pair bears Maison Margiela’s signature four white stitches on the sides. You can find the full, futuristic collection on Gentle Monster’s website, and selected styles (including the leather ones!) at the Gentle Monster store in Marina Bay Sands.
Uniqlo: C, the collaboration between Uniqlo and British fashion designer Clare Waight Keller, returns for Spring/Summer 2024. As many other fashion designers did this season, Waight Keller looked to lightness, fluidity and movement for inspiration. She explained, “I think that spring represents a time of transition where the seasons change, and our wardrobes need the same flexibility. I love the mix between tailored and relaxed styles. The feeling is effortlessly elegant with a youthful attitude that captures the lightness and ease of summertime.” Waight Keller translated that well with her second Uniqlo C collection, where you’ll find all manner of easy, breezy pieces that are perfect for the Singapore climate. Think relaxed, boxy tops; pleated pattern skirts; soft, frayed denim jeans, and airy maxi dresses to wear as you go about your day. The bright colours of the collection, like red, blue and green, are sure to spark joy too. On the accessories front, simplicity and functionality collide. The checkered caps offer UV protection; the faux leather Puffy Bag, featuring interior pockets, is unbelievably lightweight; and the cross-strap platform sandals are surprisingly elegant. Ready to elevate your wardrobe? Uniqlo: C will be released in two drops. The Spring collection is now available online and in Uniqlo stores, while the Summer collection will arrive on 21 March.
