Watch out Barbie, there’s a new doll in town. Or rather, a few new dolls.
For one of the most anticipated releases this summer, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is living up to its hype. Lead by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the live-action edition of the famed Mattel franchise, another series of promotional images have just dropped. This time, the film’s second promotional campaign sees pop sensation Dua Lipa characterising a mermaid. Fitted head-to-toe in an oceanic blue, Lipa just about broke the Internet with her splashy, sultry teaser post.

This teaser reveals nine other Barbies in the universe. Awkward Black Girl’s Issa Rae, Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan, and Sex Education’s Emma Mackey are also slated to portray iterations of the titular character, as President Barbie, Diplomat Barbie, and Physicist Barbie respectively.
The list doesn’t end there though, as a roster of Hollywood favourites, like Simu Liu, Helen Mirren, Michael Cera, Will Ferrell, and John Cena, has also been announced as the ensemble supporting cast.
Having been in the works for over a decade, the film sees Oscar-nominated Gerwig in her third directorial position, after influential cult-classics like Lady Bird and Little Women. For the newly released second teaser trailer, Gerwig’s vision of BarbieLand is unveiled, a glamorous utopia of pink, home to all the versions of Barbies and Kens in the film’s universe.
