Since it was unveiled to the world in 1990, Piaget’s Possession collection has stood for timeless elegance, expert craftsmanship, and remarkable beauty.
The Swiss maison’s first fine jewellery collection has distinguished itself with its playful kinetic design and superb goldsmithing and gemsetting, and over the years it has brought forth a succession of novelties that exemplify the maison’s savouir faire and innovation, from earrings textured with Piaget’s signature Decor Palace engraving, to cuff bracelets bearing ornamental hard stones or black ceramic—the result is a Possession creation for every taste and occasion.
This year, to mark Piaget’s 150th anniversary, the maison has released a special series of five Possession rings, a capsule collection that celebrates Piaget’s flair, its magnificent goldsmithing, and the Possession collection’s unique expression of movement, all imbued with majesty and opulence. Rich in intricate detail is the white gold and pink gold Possession ring inspired by Piaget’s master chain makers, featuring three chain designs: a robust gourmette made up of interlocking links, a braided palm chain, and a twisted torsade.
The sumptuous composition comprises three turning bands that bear scintillating diamonds, which catch and scatter light as they complete their orbits. For a bold splash of colour, the gemstone-festooned pink gold Possession ring showcases sapphires, rubies and tsavorites arranged in a perfect dégradé, spinning in parallel with a delicate row of white diamonds, with both sandwiched between polished gadroon edges.
And completing the capsule are three comparatively subdued but no less exquisite examples of the maison’s mastery of textures, patterns and craft: pink gold Possession rings decorated with an engraved snakeskin motif (previously seen in the maison’s Limelight Gala timepiece collection); a graphic and modern chevron design; and a more delicate rendition of the gourmette chain, this time bearing a single Possession-set brilliant-cut diamond.
Showcasing these novelties in a new light is the latest Piaget holiday campaign created by Yukiko Noritake, the Japanese artist behind the maison’s whimsical 2023 Christmas ad campaign. This year, she has drawn from the 150th anniversary collection and its colour palette to create a fresh suite of illustrations that portray Piaget design icons playing a starring role in the magic of the season.
From a rose gold, mother-of-pearl and diamond Sunlight pendant taking the place of a disco ball suspended above a crowded dance floor, to a stainless steel Polo chronograph that leans into a snowy mountainside while a jubilant skier soars overhead, each illustration communicates the warmth, togetherness, and unbridled joy that the holidays embody, and how Piaget creations are integral to the festivities.
Epitomising both extravagance and elegance, as the Maison of Extraleganza, Piaget infuses its dazzling Possession capsule collection with its distinctive style and know-how, and forges its link with happiness, connection, and bright beginnings.
