The spirit of childlike wonder is brought to life within the latest collaboration from Coach and Observed By Us, a label co-founded by actress Kirsten Dunst and her long-time collaborator, Jessica Herschko. From whimsical scribbles, bright hues, and cute bag shapes, the collection celebrates Dunst and Herschko’s vision of youthful imagination, working in a sense of lightness into ready-to-wear, bags, footwear and accessories.
“Creating this collection with Kirsten and Jessica was delightful. We got to celebrate our shared love of imagination and playfulness. Kirsten, and her style, has often been an inspiration for me,” said Coach creative director Stuart Vevers in a statement. “So, to design alongside her and Jessica, and to blend their vivid storytelling and colour with our own American heritage design language and craftsmanship was really inspiring.”

The actress and illustration artist founded Observed By Us in 2020, to bring new life into pre-loved garments, shoes, and accessories with whimsical hand-drawn illustrations. For their collection with Coach, the duo aimed to imbue an essence of nostalgic storytelling inherent within typical vintage pieces, with illustrations conceptualised with the mindset of youthful imagination. “We started Observed By Us to create clothing and other items with images that evoke a special, happy feeling and a sense of appreciation for both the natural and the man-made,” said Herschko. “It was very fun to collaborate with Coach because, much like us, they see a world of possibility in the small details and have the ability to execute that perfectly.”

Standard-issue Coach staples are reinvented in saturated heritage colours, embellished and printed with original Herschko-illustrations, and decorated with story patches that relay the tales behind each design. Sailboats, strawberries and solar systems are recurring motifs within the array of ready-to-wear and leather goods within the collection, while Rexy, the house’s mascot, is referenced in the brand’s embroidered Swinger bag. Highlights from the collection include an embroidered wool pointelle crop top, overalls and a straw hat, all fashioned in Dunst and Herschko’s vision of an “offbeat, youthful naiveté”.
