With a name that literally translates to “to have”, ITZY’s Spring Summer 2023 campaign with Charles & Keith is fittingly enviable. K-pop’s 4th Gen It Girls are swapping their sneakers for sling-backs and platform pumps, as they christen this season’s star pieces with an extensive visual campaign, designed to tantalate.

While the group has shed their rookie title, youthful exuberance is a concept still associated with the name ITZY. Collectively, Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong and Yuna embody teen crush, an industry term that emphasises a fierce, yet feminine appeal, that still maintains a notion of levity and play. The quintet is known by fans for their unique, individual reflections of youth—never shying away from a giddy TikTok dance challenge, or from simply letting loose at their fan meetings.

You’ll see this sense of youthful wonder in most of their music videos, spanning their debut Dalla Dalla to the more recent Sneakers, and even in their world tour wardrobes. And you’ll see it in Charles & Keith’s SS23 collection. Play is the main inspiration behind the season, and rightfully so.

Summer-friendly hues of candy-coloured brights are melded into fun silhouettes of chunky platforms and tubular hobo bags, while daring dimensions are introduced to the mix, courtesy of the new micro-sized Koa bag. And though play has inspired the brief, more practical colours and shapes—in the form of achromatic shoulder bags and kitten sling-backs—have been integrated into the season’s offerings, to suit any capsule closet or working woman.
