On Monday night, Tate Modern museum was transformed into an enchanting lush forest overflowing with 10,000 ferns to stage Gucci’s Cruise 2025 collection, envisioned by creative director Sabato De Sarno. De Sarno chose to unveil his very first Gucci cruise collection at the heart of London because it held a special significance for him and founder Guccio Gucci who worked as a porter at the Savoy Hotel in London. “I owe a lot to this city, it has welcomed and listened to me. The same is true for Gucci, whose founder was inspired by his experience there,” shared De Sarno.
Departing from the seductive allure and refined sophistication of Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, the Cruise collection exuded a new energy bursting with youthfulness and flamboyance. Drawing inspiration from London’s Swinging Sixties, models walked the runway in delicate crochet pieces, floral-embroidered denim, and fringe-accented dresses that showcased a kaleidoscope of colours and textures.
The fashion show drew a crowd of 300 attendees and among them were K-pop star Lee Know of Stray Kids, pop star Dua Lipa and Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, who graced the front row dressed in looks plucked from the Italian brand’s Fall/Winter 2024 fashino show. Lee Know and Dua Lipa sported sleek black jackets adorned with the house’s distinctive double-G logo while Korean actress Park Gyu-Young and supermodel Kate Moss donned lingerie-inspired slip dresses.
