Barbie is set to make its global release soon. Starring Australian actress Margot Robbie and Canadian actor Ryan Gosling, the upcoming film will be the first live-action Barbie film ever.
It will be available in theatres from Thursday (20 Jul).
Before the grand release of the film, there has been already a good amount of hype surrounding it, like Barbiecore.
Back to the K-pop realm, there’s no denying that some K-pop idols can just pull off as the fashion doll. HallyuSG takes you through five K-pop idols that look just like real-life Barbies.
1. Jeon Somi
One idol known to look like a Barbie doll is none other than Jeon Somi.
Now a soloist, Jeon previously participated in two survival shows, SIXTEEN and Produce 101. She ranked first in the latter. She later made her official debut in the now-defunct girl group I.O.I.
Her visuals are definitely doll-like. And she looks like just like a Barbie doll, especially when her hair is dyed blonde.
2. Blackpink’s Lisa
Lisa is the main dancer of the K-pop girl band Blackpink. Born in Buriram, Thailand, Lisa boasts exotic features and a dazzling demeanour.
Back in 2021, she made her solo debut with her first album Lalisa. Her two tracks Lalisa (2021) and Money (2021) are well-loved by her fans all over the world.
The all-rounded star is also Celine’s first official ambassador, a testament to her charm and appeal. Her doe eyes, along with bangs have also made her look like a real-life Barbie doll.
3. Taeyeon
Taeyeon, the leader and main vocalist of Girls’ Generation, is another idol that has earned a reputation among fans for looking like Barbie.
This is especially so after the release of her song, Weekend (2023), where she was seen sporting a pink preppy aesthetic. She also had blonde and pink hair in the music video.
4. Red Velvet’s Irene
We’re talking about the leader and lead dancer of Red Velvet, Bae Joo-hyun. Better known as Irene, she is definitely known to resemble a living doll.
Her soft feature, alongside her cool and chic vibe, has her looking like a Barbie princess. Even amongst other K-pop idols, she is well-known for her dazzling visuals.
5. IU
Last but definitely not least, we have soloist IU looking just like a real-life Barbie.
Her innocent gaze and button nose have not only enhanced her girl-next-door image, but she also gained traction for looking like a doll.
Especially when IU played hotel owner Jang Man-wol, where her fancy outfits and intricate hairstyles really showed her striking resemblance to a Barbie doll.
