Back when I was an editorial assistant in a time when editors had an army of assistants and a commodious cubicle to bark orders from, I would always focus on an item on my editor’s table as she regaled tales of her trips or prattled off about the shoe she really needed to have to make a shot work. It was a bottle of OMNIA Amethyste by BVLGARI with its two circles forming the signature links that are motifs found on the Italian House’s high-end jewellery.
More specifically, the scent of BVLGARI OMNIA Amethyste in all its purple-hued glamour and opulence was a representation of what I thought a real power woman smelt like—softly warmed woody notes that signified sensuality, zesty pink grapefruit for go-getter energy, and creamy Bulgarian rose that was just the right flavour of naughty.
Whenever my editor spritzed it on before leaving the office with her Céline crocodile Luggage tote clutched in hand, I knew she meant business.

It has been long documented by science that a scent is connected with our memories and emotions. When we sniff one, it tickles the amygdala within the brain’s olfactory complex which happens to be connected to the hippocampus which is responsible for our emotions. So perhaps, you could figure out which sensation I felt (spoiler alert: it was nostalgic happiness) when I had the opportunity to discover the BVLGARI OMNIA collection in a new, brighter light.
Titled Crystalline, Amethyste, and Coral ($240 each), those familiar with the House’s perfumes might recognise them from the early noughties but their monikers are the only similiarities. The first point of difference is its packaging that now represents the infinity symbol capped off with an elegant rose gold-coloured frame, like an Italian sculpture; a sort of Pinterest-esque world where everybody is radiantly tanned and lives in a villa that faces the Mediterranean Sea.

Each BVLGARI OMNIA perfume is re-crafted by Master Perfumer Alberto Morillas who created the original ones and are based on three floral foundations: the lotus, iris, and hibiscus, all of which radiantly illuminate itself upon one spritz for you to form your own light-hearted memory around them.
There is the floral-aquatic Crystalline, inspired by the airiness of the lotus flower which does the magic of transporting you to somewhere ethereal and blissful (perhaps, the Ashikaga Flower Park in Japan?) and the woody-musky Amethyste that you can associate with more innocent and romantic times: a picnic on the grass, new love, sweet beginnings, and a spring wind caressing your face with the scent of powdery iris.

What does coral smell like though? Absolutely nothing but it didn’t stop Morillas from imagining what it could smell like. His vision for BVLGARI OMNIA Coral was to create a floral-fruity bouquet that blooms to lush life with hibiscus notes; like lolling around on an exclusive beach in the Caribbean or passing time on a private cruise through the Adriatic Sea.
Or in another editor’s more straight-forward words, “clean, fresh, and effortlessly pretty.”
For the BVLGARI OMNIA campaign titled Reveal Your Light, it then makes sense that the Italian House cast Cailee Spaeny to front it. The 24-year-old up-and-coming actress oozes an effortlessly authentic glow for the campaign; a radiant union between a woman and a perfume that we hope you experience when you get to experience the latter in the flesh.
