HERMÈS Épice Marine

Hermessence remains Hermès’s most exclusive fragrance line since its inception in 2004. Each scent is conceived as a poetic encounter between two materials—harmonised with elegance, strength, and virtuosity to conjure a story. Within the maison’s signature lantern-shaped bottle, capped with saddle-stitched leather, every Hermessence becomes a timeless object: an olfactory and aesthetic imprint of Hermès. In this itinerary of olfactory sensations, Myrrhe Églantine, Épice Marine, Poivre Samarcande, and Cardamusc unveil Hermès’s global spice odyssey, traversing from Lebanon to India, the Arabian Gulf to China.

HERMÈS Cardamusc, Poivre Samarcande, Myrrhe Églantine

Myrrhe Églantine is a duet of wild rose and ancient myrrh. The elusive delicacy of Rosa canina finds strength in resinous warmth, yielding a fragrance both fl oral and spicy—fresh, intimate, and unexpected. By contrast, Épice Marine channels the encounter between perfumer and chef, evoking sea-swept spices drawn from Breton sails. Cardamom, Jamaican chilli, and toasted cumin mingle with ocean air to create a spirited composition that feels almost nomadic in character. Poivre Samarcande charts a journey along the Silk Road. With its French name for the Uzbek city of Samarkand, the fragrance conjures a gateway between East and West, and a gateway between cultures. Black pepper’s heat is tempered by musky, smoky oakmoss. Th e effect is exotic yet measured, crisp yet enveloping. Cardamusc distils one of the world’s oldest spices—cardamom—into a fresh, lively heart softened by velvety musk. The result is a skin-close fragrance that recalls the origins of perfumery itself, rooted in simplicity and depth.

Together, these four Hermessence fragrances compose a sublime spectrum: from floral resinous tension, through maritime spice, to dry peppery sophistication, and musky freshness. Each invites the imagination, off ering a sensory voyage told through aroma.

The packaging embodies Hermès’s craftsmanship and bold aesthetic signature. In lacquered lantern bottles capped with saddle-stitched leather, the collection’s emblematic design renders these essences as objects as much as olfactory experiences.
