What’s pro guitarist Marcin obsessed with now? While the musician was in town recently for his Art of Guitar show, we caught up with the 25-year-old to find out what’s been on his radar. From his fashion fixations to one DJ that he unexpectedly can’t get over, read on to uncover Marcin’s greatest obsessions.

GRAZIA Singapore (GS): A fashion designer whose work has got you obsessed?
Marcin (M): I really love travelling to different places in the world and discovering local designers. And here in Singapore, I went to New Bahru recently, and ventured into the Lisa von Tang boutique. I’ve never seen this brand before, and I’m a little obsessed with that right now!

GS: One bag you’ve had your eye on?
M: I love Saint Laurent, so anything from them is really great. But actually what I need right now is a good crossbody bag, because it’s so useful and practical, especially on tour. I also recently came across the Paper shoulder bag from Maison Margiela, which I think is cool too.

GS: One song you’ve had on repeat since you first heard it?
M: Berghain by Rosalía.

GS: Your current film obsession?
M: I have two answers for this. I love watching bad rom-coms with my girlfriend, so something like How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days is always good. And I’m a long-time fan of the Cantonese director Wong Kar Wai. If I had to choose one film from him, it would probably be Fallen Angels.

GS: An artist whose work you adore?
M: Well, he’s passed on now, but I love the Polish painter Wojciech Fangor. He did oil paintings, and they are like optimal illusions, almost.

GS: Your most-prized jewellery piece?
M: I love all my jewellery pieces, but from what I have on me right now, I like my snake ring the most, because it’s the Year of the Snake, and I love snakes.

GS: Your dream watch?
M: My dream one would probably be one from Audemars Piguet, but recently, I just bought myself my first watch. While I was in Tokyo at the Cartier store in Ginza, I bought the Cartier Tank watch, which was a big deal since I’m not usually a big spender.

GS: One beauty product you won’t leave the house without?
M: A nail file! For my shows, I usually have the nails on my right hand manicured and filed. So every time I play, I like to make sure my nails are primed and ready to go.

GS: A fragrance you’re obsessed with right now?
M: I love Rose 31 from Le Labo. But I’m also using this perfume from Morocco, though I don’t know what brand it’s from. That one is really strong and lasts me all day.

GS: Your comfort food?
M: Fried chicken. There isn’t a particular shop, but I love Japanese karaage. In Singapore, I think I also found a new comfort food, which is black stir-fried carrot cake. I had it just a few days ago from a hawker centre and I loved it—so good.

GS: Your go-to coffee order?
M: On a show day, it’s always the same. I have a triple shot of dark espresso right before I go up on stage. It sounds hardcore, but then when I go up to perform, I feel like I’m conquering the world. If I’m just having fun on an average day, I usually like something light and citrusy, usually something from Ethiopia.

GS: Your favourite restaurant or bar?
M: In Warsaw, where I’m from, there’s this bar I love called Loretta. My friends and I go together all the time. It’s a rooftop bar, but the vibe inside is just right—in between a fancy establishment and a chill dive bar. We have the weirdest conversations there. When I was in Singapore, I really liked Wakuda at Marina Bay Sands too. The Japanese food there is amazing.

GS: Your secret obsession is…?
M: Dance music. I love Peggy Gou, the Korean DJ. Whenever I’m in the shower, I have her music on, and the vibes are always amazing. And I love that she’s very chic as well!
