And just like that, divorce becomes an opportunity. Emily Ratajkowski’s engagement ring, gifted to her by her former husband, Sebastian Bear-McClard, lives on the moodboards of many a bride-to-be. But you know who doesn’t care much for the piece of jewellery as it is? Emily Ratajkowski.
Since divorcing Bear-McClard in 2022 following allegations of cheating, the model has proudly worn her single status—and now she even has a permanent reminder to celebrate. Holding on to her famous ‘Toi et Moi’ diamond engagement ring, Ratajkowski has since repurposed the stunning ring into two pieces, dubbing them “divorce rings” on her Instagram.
Toi et Moi rings are a particularly romantic style of ring design characterised by two diamonds set together. With the name translating to “you and me”, it symbolises two becoming one.
But thanks to the work of New York-based jeweller Alison Lou, one has become two again.
“The rings represent my own personal evolution,” she told Vogue. “I don’t think a woman should be stripped of her diamonds just because she’s losing a man.”
Sharing up-close shots of the new pieces and selfies from her bed, Ratajkowski looked pleased with her choice.
The My Body author shared multiple shots boasting the latest additions to her jewellery box.
Ratajkowski and Bear-McClard were married for over four years before splitting in late 2022. They co-parent their son, Sylvester Apollo, together.
