Abstract Beauty: Turning Timeless Motifs Into Sculptural Masterpieces

Between nature’s truth and the artist’s vision, heritage motifs take wing and unfurl into sculptural marvels

Where heritage meets imagination, traditional motifs are reimagined into striking forms that blur the line between nature’s raw truth and an artist’s vision. In this dance of history and modernity, familiar symbols take flight, unfurling into sculptural marvels that celebrate both craft and creativity.

In a contemporary reimagining of Jean Schlumberger’s Bird on a Rock, Tiffany & Co takes flight with a fine jewellery collection that strikes a balance between the figurative and the abstract. Some pieces depict birds mid-flight—solo or in graceful pairs—while others distil the motif to its purest form: the wing. Sleek, sculptural lines unfurl into textured creations that are both symbolic and strikingly modern.

Inspired by a trio of 1937 clips, Van Cleef & Arpels’ new Flowerlace collection gives the maison’s signature blooms a modern, abstract twist. Blending its love of nature with couture heritage, the designs are part flower, part ribbon— unfurling into bloom. “It’s whimsical, voluminous, and playful, yet still refined,” says Van Cleef & Arpels CEO Catherine Rénier.

Pomellato’s latest Iconica chapter celebrates Milanese goldsmithing heritage with a burst of colour. A particular standout is the cocktail ring in rose gold dazzles with a kaleidoscope of gems— amethyst, ruby, sapphires, and zircon—showcasing the maison’s innovative ‘fancy setting’, where flushmounted stones mimic the shape of their cuts for a playful trompe l’oeil effect.
