Paris Fashion Week is finally upon us. The month of September has been building up to this very week, and there’s much to look forward to as Paris brings out the heavy hitters of Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel and more. Apart from the fashion giants borne from the city, fashion week also heralds the welcoming of a new wave of designers making their mark on the industry—Korean label Kimhēkim and cool-girl certified Paloma Wool are just among a few that we’ve got our eye on this season. While the attention of the world is focused on the runway and the celebrity filled front row; when in Paris, we know that the best way to take in the style du jour is to hit the streets of Paris for some street style inspiration.
As the capitol of sartorial artistry, it would only make sense that Parisians are bringing out their best autumnal fits for the occasion. Cozy co-ords dominate the streets with an occasional showing of shoulders for those latching on to the last stretch of summer, and the trusty blazer seems to be the outerwear of choice this season as we see a barrage of corporate inspired ensembles. Maximalism takes a back seat for sleek suiting to shine, which could quite possibly be attributed to the recent showings of Tom Ford, Gucci and Peter Do. Show goers aren’t holding back on the colour as a full spectrum of vibrant hues litter the streets, mostly veering towards the seasonally appropriate colour palette of warm orange and reds. As aspirational as the runway may be, it seems the streets can too, teach us a lesson in dressing.
