Riding the high of an exciting menswear season, the fashion industry has now turned its attention to Paris Couture Week for the Fall/Winter 2025 shows. But that was not before Michael Rider made his debut as creative director of Celine. Rider presented his first men’s and women’s designs with a fashion show in Celine’s offices at 16 Rue Vivienne. His collection boldly mixed the artsy design codes of Phoebe Philo’s Céline and the ‘70s French bourgeois wardrobe of Hedi Slimane’s Celine—and it had everyone talking.

Glenn Martens will hopefully thrill the fashion world the same way when he makes his own debut at Maison Margiela’s Artisanal 2025 show, which is happening on 9 July. But first, Schiaparelli will kick off Paris Fashion Week with a fashion show that expands upon the ideas of Daniel Roseberry’s Icarus collection from last season. You’ll remember that collection’s ornate corseted gowns, one of which so captivated Lauren Sánchez that she wore it to her splashy wedding with Jeff Bezos.

A different kind of haute couture client will surely appreciate Iris Van Herpen’s return to Paris Couture Week. For the last few years, the Dutch designer was occupied with putting together her retrospective exhibition, which was shown first in Paris, and is now being presented in Singapore. Van Herpen’s previous haute couture presentation in 2024, the Hybrid Show, featured five gowns alongside her aerial sculptures. Her upcoming collection, Sympoiesis, will surely offer even more haute couture creations to marvel at. It will be the result of “nine months of passion, innovation and artisanal experimentation,” as van Herpen’s Instagram notes.

Chanel has also teased its upcoming fashion show with a film by Malick Bodian. The video captures the sophisticated ambiance of 31 Rue Cambon, the French fashion brand’s famed address in Paris, as well as the feathered and embellished creations from Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2025 haute couture collection. This will be the final collection to be designed solely by the French fashion brand’s design studio, before Matthieu Blazy takes over.

Speaking of final collections: Demna is wrapping up his influential chapter at Balenciaga with his last haute couture presentation on 9 July. Will his swansong look anything like the gowns shown at his retrospective exhibition in Paris?

Stay tuned to find out, as we share the latest updates on the Fall/Winter 2025 haute couture shows in Paris.
