Audrey Hepburn, Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly, Nina Mae McKinney… and Zendaya. The 27-year-old star is now arguably among the ranks of Hollywood’s most glamorous leading ladies and her latest look while attending the Oscars just cements this legendary status.
Arriving on the red carpet for the 96th Academy Awards, Zendaya was a vision in a glittery Giorgio Armani Privé corset dress. The armour-like gunmetal-hued sequins on the corset were perfectly softened by the pink silk details of the dress. Complementing the ensemble, the Euphoria actress chose to forgo the traditional necklace, instead selecting an elegant array of Bulgari accessories – elegant drop earrings, a chic bracelet, and a stylish ring, all beautifully embellished with dark pink morganite stones set against a rich gold backdrop.
The finishing touch is a gentle, Old Hollywood style bob. Perfect.
Of course it isn’t just Zendaya who pulls this off. Long-time stylist and collaborator Law Roach is also behind the details of this look with his signature drama and eye for detail.
These last few weeks we’ve seen the Dune 2 star deliver a series of iconic fashion moments inspired by the movie’s sci-fi theme, including a Mugler robot look, matching space-age jumpsuits with co-star Timothêe Chalamet and she’s continued that theme tonight, albeit in a far more subtle manner.
Cascading down the front of the dress are embroidered retro palm trees, a significant motif in the Dune movie mythos. I refuse to believe this is a coincidence–Roach is far too specific and eagle-eyed to miss connections like this –which makes the entire look even more of a megawatt fashion moment.
While not viable for an Oscar nomination this, her new film Challengers directed by Call Me By Your Name’s Luca Guadagnino could set the actress’ star on course for her first own nomination.
