London-based fashion retailer COS returned to New York once again to show its Autumn/Winter 2024 collection, along with its higher-end COS Atelier capsule. “I love the vibe; I love the galleries; I think the food is good,” COS creative director Karin Gustaffson told us last year about showing in the Big Apple. “New York is a place we always come for inspiration in a way. There’s so much art and people, and it’s dynamic, and it’s international.”
This year, the brand decamped to Brooklyn, showing its sleek AW24 collection in a decidedly industrial setting: the Agger Fish Building at the Brooklyn Navy Yards. Guests arrived by ferry across the river, taking in the picturesque views of the Manhattan and Brooklyn skylines on a beautifully sunny day (although car rides were also available).
The collection itself was as sleek as anything you’d expect from COS: Inspired by ballet and movement, the collection paired beautifully structured and tailored pieces with loose draping and slinky silhouettes—spun from deliciously decadent fabrications for the cosy season.

WHERE: The industrial Agger Fish Building at the Brooklyn Navy Yards was the site of the COS AW24 show. Decking out the space with a maze of sculptural walls, the setting was a perfect juxtapostion of sharp modernism and gritty industrialism that quite clearly took inspiration from the New York City.
WHO: The front row was a star-studded affair, with Asian celebrities such as Korean actor Kim Young-dae, Thai actors “Zee” Pruk Panich and “Pat” Chayanit Chansangavej, China-based musician Mika Hashizume, Japanese actor Shuntarō Yanagi and GRAZIA Singapore’s May cover star Pia Wurtzbach, who sat alongside Emma Roberts, Emily Ratajkowski, Chloe Sevigny, Issa Rae.
WHAT: Movement met minimalism in COS’s AW24 collection. “We looked at German dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch. She was so expressive in her choreographies,” said Gustaffson about the collection’s inspiration in an interview. This translated into smart tailoring softened with oversized silhouettes, richly textured separates perfect for the cold, crisp weather, and flowing silk numbers contrasted against the menswear-inspired outerwear.
The accessories also held their own. For footwear, unexpected pops of colour—in the form of bright green socks and ballet flats—and cosy textures (shearling slip-ons, anyone?) reigned on the runway. On the bag front, oversized styles were the order of the day. The key bag of the season? An oversized puffy clutch with a slip-through strap that comes in burgundy and black—we spotted several style influencers who attended the show rocking the look already.
