Every year, Pantone takes it upon itself to announce a new colour that supposedly captures “a global mood and an attitude”. The American company predicts that this chosen colour will appear everywhere, taking over our home decor, beauty products, and most importantly, our wardrobes. While that didn’t exactly happen with Peach Fuzz, Pantone’s colour of the year in 2024—nobody saw Charli Xcx’s Brat green coming—we have a feeling that this year’s hue, Mocha Mousse, just might make an impact.
Pantone describes Mocha Mousse as “a warming, brown hue imbued with richness”, a colour that is suggestive of “the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort.” On its website, Pantone also showcases an image of creamy chocolate ice cream to drive home the allure of the delicious shade.
It’s not just Pantone that wants you to wear Mocha Mousse. At the Spring/Summer 2025 fashion shows, the soft, rich brown made quite the statement. It appeared on Schiaparelli denim, Tory Burch trousers and Loro Piana suits. At Prada, a knit top in Mocha Mousse was paired with bright pink pants, showing us that wearing a neutral colour can, indeed, be quirky. At Dries Van Noten, the colour played well with brick red, light beige and, coincidentally, Peach Fuzz.
Still, Mocha Mousse makes the most impact when it’s worn in a monochromatic outfit. It has a sensuality about it, as seen in the nude, bodycon dresses at Onitsuka Tiger and the sporty bodysuits at Dior. The colour can also mean business: it shines on trench coats and tailoring, as demonstrated in Loro Piana’s elegant collection.
Whether Mocha Mousse takes off as a colour trend or not, one thing is for sure: it’s a timeless brown shade with plenty of styling possibilities. Below, be inspired by some of the Mocha Mouse looks we spotted at the Spring/Summer 2025 runway shows.
