Since the brand’s conception in the sixties, Finnish design house Marimekko has captured the hearts of many with their optimistic designs underscored by cheerful prints. Their brightly coloured printed fabrics and simple yet charming styles have brought a smile to the faces of many. Today, the brand is most notably known for its floral patterns and simple but bold aesthetics.
Opening its doors in ION Orchard, Marimekko launched its first lifestyle concept store in Singapore. Melding the fashion and homewares lines in one space, the store finds a delicious range of home goods from ceramics, tableware and linens, clad in the iconic Marimekko prints we know and love. The unique Marimekko charm is evident throughout the store, showcasing Nordic aesthetics that are sure to leave you feeling inspired.
If you plan on picking up a few knick-knicks, perhaps consider a fresh new addition to your wardrobe from Marimekko. The latest collection, heavily inspired by Italian architect Federico Babina’s abstracted takes on deconstructed architecture—expect modular wardrobe staples, sharp architectural prints and lots of geometric cuts.
And don’t forget to check out the Marimekko café, located within the retail store. The café boasts Marimekko home furnishings and their signature Unikko print fabric, creating an Instagram-worthy backdrop for you to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, alongside a selection of cake and pastries.
