Kicking off from their first collaborative effort from last year, Levi’s & AMBUSH bring a new moto-inspired collection to the fore for Spring Summer 2023 on 12 January. While the first collaboration was all about exploring Levi’s heritage through an AMBUSH lens, this season goes deeper into AMBUSH’s unique approach to styling, using Levi’s denim as a canvas.
Japanese brand AMBUSH is well known for its punk-infused, luxury-meets-streetwear approach to fashion. Since 2008, the Tokyo-based label never backed down on its bold vision and cutting-edge perspective on design, their signature idiosyncratic style eventually leading to commissions and collaborations with an illustrious following of fashion icons, heritage luxury houses and streetwear brands.
Their second conversation with Levi’s led to the creation of two gender-neutral pieces. The first, denim jacket, inspired by classic cafe racer moto jackets, comes in a mid-indigo wash with a noticeable AMBUSH zipper pull. Its features distinctive shadow patches on the chest and sleeves that add a sense of ruggedness to the denim; these special effect adornments are created when patches are added to raw denim, and then removed after the washing process.
The same is done for the second piece, the matching denim jeans, to create a set. Cut in a slim straight fit and also mid-indigo washed, the jean showcases a special front knee panel detailing that reinstates the biker agenda, both garments finished with an exclusive black Levi’s back patch that bears Levi’s Two Horse Pull and AMBUSH logos.
