“I’m your ch-ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb” may just be your motto for the summer. While last summer gave us the viral Tomato Girl Summer trend, this year it seems we are embracing Cherry Girl Summer.
Continuing their fascination with food, fashion brands have been taking inspiration from the plump red fruit. There’s Louis Vuitton, whose latest collaboration with Takashi Murakami sees an array of its iconic Monogram bags and denim accessories made over with smiling cherries by the Japanese artist. At Valentino, creative director Alessandro Michele has introduced the Cherryfic collection, featuring jacquard raffia bags jazzed up with the sweet motif. (We saw plenty of terrific Cherryfic pieces at Valentino’s celebration at Messina Singapore last week.)
More juicy couture can be found at Charles and Keith, which has collaborated with the Beijing-based jewellery brand YVMIN for a line-up of fruit-inspired bag charms. Besides glossy apples and grapes, the collection offers a crystal-studded “Cherry Bear” charm that combines two of the cutest motifs that you can possibly feature on an accessory.

Los Angeles-based designer Leeann Huang has been making playful clothes covered in food motifs for a while now—in the mix are the Banana Button Down shirt and the Baguette Sweater—but this season, you’ll want to wear her Cherry Whipped patch tank top. On the front of the shirt is a lenticular patch of a cherry covered in whipped cream that, amazingly, animates as you move. The cherry on top? The shirt is also approved by Dua Lipa.
