A love letter to Deauville, that’s what Virginie Viard at Chanel is presenting this Fall/Winter 2024. A loving ode to the beach-side Normandy locale so central to the Chanel ideology and to the world of cinema. Beyond its stylistic architecture and boutiques, the small French commune is loved for Les Planches, the iconic boardwalk that surrounds the wide coastal holiday destination.
This season’s theme builds on Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection from last year, that presented a laid-back, holidaying-in-the-South-of-France ease, as told by relaxed, slouchy fits, flat sandals and tweed caftans.
In a teaser directed by the Chanel-favourite creatives Inez and Vinoodh, the French luxury house superimposes a clip of Swiss model Vivienne Rohner onto a snippet of Les Planches, shot by Claude Lelouch, for the credits of his 1966 romance-thriller A Man and A Woman.
The teaser comes ahead of Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2024 show, set to take place on 5 March at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris, at 5:30PM (Singapore time). Don’t miss the film’s full release at 9PM (Singapore time) on the same day, on Chanel’s website. Per the star’s Instagram updates, fans can also look forward to the appearance of global brand ambassador Blackpink’s Jennie (who has been affectionately dubbed the ‘Human Chanel’) who is slated to attend the show in Paris this week.
