Not too long after the Met Gala, fashion fans have yet another glamorous red carpet event to look out for: the 77th Cannes Film Festival. The star-studded event has kicked off on the scenic French Riviera, and Asian celebrities from different corners of the world have flown in to grace the red carpet in spectacular fashion.
Among them is Thai actress Araya Hargate, who dominated the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival 2024 in a vintage Balmain ballgown. Hargate transformed into a vision of an Old Hollywood star in her black velvet ensemble, complete with opera gloves. She also added a coquette touch with a bow on her hair—Tiktok would approve. Joining her on the first day of the film festival were Chinese actresses Gong Li, who dazzled in a sequin gown and Cartier jewels, and Guan Xiaotong, who was pretty in pink in her archival Elie Saab dress.
Later in the week, Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Baichchan finally made her Cannes appearance—with yet another style statement to boot. Another stunner was Chinese actress Crystal Zhang, also known as Zhang Tian’ai, who made her red carpet debut in a sultry Versace number. Korean celebrities are also turning heads on the red carpet: actress Han So Hee and K-pop stars Yoona Lim of SNSD and Lay of EXO have all made their appearances clad in elegant ensembles.
