The 2025 edition of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) just kicked off last night with a dazzling opening ceremony. As Korea’s largest annual event spotlighting auteurs and actors, the festival has grown to become one of the region’s most celebrated—and most alluring. This year marks the 30th edition of the festival, and will take place from 17–26 September 2025.

At the 30th BIFF, actors, directors and producers flocked to the seaside city in their finest ensembles. Han So-hee, who was just in Canada last week for the Toronto International Film Festival, made an appearance on the red carpet with fellow Project Y actress Jeon Jong-seo before sharing an adorable interaction. Classic elegance was the name of the game for Lee Soo-hyuk and Kentaro Sakaguchi, who turned up in sleek tuxedos. Legendary Korean actress Son Ye-jin wore a satin pink number on the red carpet, before her upcoming project No Other Choice was premiered as the festival’s opening film.

The biggest surprise of the night came when Lisa (yes, Blackpink‘s Lisa) showed up to the red carpet dressed in a textural Maison Margiela dress. The star just appeared on the 2025 Emmys red carpet earlier this week, in support of her fellow The White Lotus co-stars, but she still managed to deliver yet another stunning look with grace and sparkle. She wasn’t the only Thai star who attended BIFF 2025: Davika Hoorne amped up the drama on the red carpet in a voluminous floor-length gown for her fantasy film A Useful Ghost.
