3 Things To Know About Squid Game Season 3

The final season of the hit Netflix series is premiering on 27 June
Season 3 of Netflix's hit series 'Squid Game' is set to premiere on 27 June. Here's everything you need to know about the third season.

It’s time for the games, one last time.

Squid Game’s third (and last) season promises to be a wild, emotional rollercoaster filled with shocking twists and dramatic confrontations. The series will continue with the familiar faces like Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Kang Ha-neul, Im Si-wan and more.

Here are three things to know about the series before its official release. Note: Spoilers for the second season ahead, so if you haven’t watched it yet, proceed with caution.

1. More Games

The official trailer has teased several new games. The most striking reveal was the appearance of the massive doll-like figure, Cheol-su. He is introduced as Young-hee’s “boyfriend”.

Like Young-hee, he is also equipped with motion sensors, and he’s expected to play a critical role in one of the games.

Showmakers teased a potential “jump rope” game, where players risk falling from the high bridge if they mistime their jumps. “There is also a maze-like game where participants are split into two teams—red and blue,” Director Hwang Dong-hyuk said.

“Plus, there is a final hidden game that I can’t reveal yet. Please watch till the end,” Hwang added.

2. Final Face-Off

One of the main highlights of the storyline is the long-awaited showdown between Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) and the Frontman (Lee Byung-hun). The last season ended with Gi-hun witnessing the death of his closest friend because of the Frontman.

As Gi-hun regains his resolve to dismantle the entire system, the third season promises to deliver both the climax and conclusion of their conflict.

Lee Byung-hun, who plays Frontman, said: “This will be the story where the full-fledged confrontation between the Frontman and Gi-hun truly unfolds.”

Another face-off we have all been waiting for is the meeting of Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun) and his brother. Having spent the whole of season two searching for the island, we hope he’ll finally be able to confront his brother in this season.

3. Final, Final Season

Season 3 of Netflix's hit series 'Squid Game' is set to premiere on 27 June. Here's everything you need to know about the third season.

Director Hwang officially announced that Squid Game 3 will be the final season.

He added that this decision was made in agreement with Netflix. Viewers may also think a subsequent season is unnecessary after this one.

However, a spin-off series may still come by in the future, should the possibility arise.
