Andie Chen, Jernelle Oh, and the TV series “Oppa Saranghae!” and “Last Madame: Sisters of the Night” clinched national accolades at the 2023 Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA). The Singapore winners were revealed in a virtual event on September 28. In addition, Oppa, Saranghae! featuring Rui En and Tasha Low secured Best Drama Series and Best Comedy Programme. The fantasy romance, narrating the story of a K-drama character crossing into the real world, also claimed Best Theme Song. Meanwhile, the provocative drama Last Madame: Sisters of the Night earned three distinctions: Best Original Production by a Streamer/OTT, Best Supporting Actress (Min Ji-Oh), and Best Direction.
Other Singaporean victors include Silent Walls (Best Single Drama/Telemovie/Anthology Episode, Best Promo & Trailer), Shrey Bhargava (Best Supporting Actor for Titoudao: Dawn of a New Stage), Yuvaraj Krishnasamy (Best Actor/Actress in a Comedy Role for Kaki Bola), Fiza O (Best Entertainment Host for Skoop! Bersama), and Mr. Brown aka Lee Kin Mun (Best Voice Artist for Downstairs).
The AAA, an annual competition in Singapore, recognises creative excellence in the Asia Pacific region, spanning countries like Malaysia, Australia, South Korea, Thailand, and the Philippines. Submissions undergo local judging in 17 Asian countries, and the Grand Awards and Gala Final are set to take place at CHIJMES Hall on December 7, and judging from the glittering red carpet appearances we saw last year, it’s likely that we can expect the stars to show up dressed to the nines again.
