GRAZIA Singapore organised the very first chapter in its Power Breakfast Series on 6 March in celebration of International Women’s Day in partnership with three homegrown female-led brands: lifestyle label Our Second Nature, bespoke skincare brand Skin Inc and independent jeweller Wanderlust + Co.
Held at The NCO Club, the entertainment enclave locale at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach, guests such as Carousell CMO Tan Su Lin, Motherswork CEO Sharon Wong, Moom Health co-founders Mili and Maya Kale, Style Lease founder Ang Jinyuan, and digital creators Savina Chow and Saffron Sharpe were in attendance for a panel discussion before enjoying a breakfast and networking session. Moderated by GRAZIA Singapore’s Editor-in-Chief Pakkee Tan, Wanderlust + Co’s Jenn Low, Our Second Nature’s Velda Tan and Skin Inc’s Sabrina Tan gave their insights on the importance of mentorship for female entrepreneurs and business owners.
With their collective wealth of experience, the panellists each spoke of the lessons that they’ve learnt, which ultimately led to their success in business. Velda, Sabrina and Jenn also discussed the immense support they’ve gained from the community of women around them, and the benefits to be gained from forming authentic connections with like-minded women.
Not forgetting the importance of wellness and mental health, the panellists ended off the discussion by reminding the audience to celebrate their wins—whether as a business owner, friend, mother or daughter. The session was concluded with a Q&A segment, where each panellist shared their personal insights on the power that comes from a life of gratitude and mindfulness.
Following which, the audience broke out for a light breakfast of fresh coffee, croissants, açai bowls, and avocado toasties, as well as delectable hors d’oeuvres such as foie gras chawanmushi and slow-braised wagyu beef rolls. Across The NCO Club, guests mingled and dove into conversations about their own experiences with mentorship and female empowerment with their new-found community.
Reflecting on the panel discussion during the Power Breakfast, entrepreneur Kimberly Gwee says, “The willingness to share, the willingness to give—that’s something that I think true women leadership and empowerment are about. I hope to see more of that in the world that we’re building, and it’s prevalent in the GRAZIA community. It’s a safe space for women to share, to learn and to grow. I think it’s a powerful movement that the magazine has started. Everybody belongs. Everybody is having meaningful conversations. And that’s what I enjoy about the GRAZIA community.”
