Pia Wurtzbach is no new face to us. After all, she is a living, breathing testament to what one can accomplish with sheer determination and hard work. Though perhaps most familiar to us as Miss Universe 2015, Wurtzbach is also a celebrated actress, author, model, and advocate. That’s why we at GRAZIA Singapore were honoured to have Wurtzbach join us as the guest of honour at La Casa GRAZIA, the magazine’s first-anniversary party back in March, and why we were even more thrilled to have her grace both covers (yes, you read that right!) of our May 2024 issue.
As Wurtzbach candidly revealed in her tell-all with GRAZIA Singapore, all these successes certainly did not come overnight. In celebration of the extraordinary journey that Wurtzbach has been on, we invited friends and readers to spend a warm afternoon with the glamorous star herself. Held at Artyzen Singapore and hosted by GRAZIA Singapore’s Editor-in-Chief Pakkee Tan, the intimate meet and greet session with the former Miss Universe honoured the values of happiness, inspiration, passion and being down to earth—qualities that Wurtzbach wholly embodies in her life every day.
Making her entrance in an elegant off-the-shoulder gown, Wurtzbach was greeted by both familiar faces and new friends in the cosy space. The newly minted Global Fashion Influencer of the Year styled the dress with a pair of Sporty Kate Sling pumps and the stunning Le 54 shoulder bag from Christian Louboutin. She topped off the look with bold jewellery pieces from Bulgari’s Serpenti collection.
The guest of honour wasn’t the only glamorous figure present at the afternoon tea. The guest list for the afternoon tea party included local style savants Iman Fandi, Savina Chow, Willabelle Ong, Salina Chai and Sabrina Marican, who all showed up to impress wearing chic red-soled heels from Christian Louboutin. Local DJ and personality Germaine Leonora Tan, digital creator Rachel Wong, Velda Tan from homegrown lifestyle label Our Second Nature and Sabrina Tan from bespoke skincare brand Skin Inc also attended the meet and greet in style.
A pillar of confidence, Wurtzbach fondly greeted all the guests in the room before sharing some fun behind-the-scenes stories while on set for the cover of the May 2024 issue. “Wow, I am so grateful that I was able to do this cover with GRAZIA Singapore. It was a really memorable shoot. What made it more special is that we worked with a team of creatives that are our friends, that we love, that become a part of our family,” gushed Wurtzbach.
Of course, no tea time is complete without a delectable selection of sweet and savoury treats. In addition to freshly brewed coffee and tea, Cafe Quenino at Artyzen Singapore presented guests with tea cakes, miniature desserts, finger sandwiches and kueh. Across the floor, some popular picks from the three-tiered pastry stand were the Otak Prawn Toast, Curry Roast Chicken finger sandwiches and Kueh Tacos, made with sweet corn, water chestnut and coconut.
Following the delightful teatime spread, guests were invited to receive copies of GRAZIA Singapore’s May issue, personally signed by Wurtzbach. She even handwrote a special note on each copy for guests to take home, as a memento of the heartwarming afternoon spent together.
