The storied house of Hermès has long captivated fans with its legacy of creating timeless pieces as well as its dedication to artisanship. And now, local fans will be able to experience the magic of the French house’s legacy for themselves. From 19 to 28 July, Hermès throws open the doors to its elusive world with On the Wings of Hermès, a performance that showcases the playful spirit the house is known for.
“This work metaphorically illustrates the lightness that is omnipresent at Hermès: in the delicate hands of our craftspeople sewing with two needles at once, in the elegance of materials and in the subtle notes of a perfume. It is an experience which sparks the imagination, designed by the artisans of dreams,” says artistic director Pierre-Alexis Dumas.
The performance—which was previously shown at Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Shanghai—melds dance, object theatre, music and cinema to tell the story of Pegasus, the winged horse, and his seven foals in seven sketches.
Led by director Jaco Van Dormael and choreographer Michèle Anne De Mey, dancers make the objects at Hermès come alive in a series of singing Hermès Kelly bags, interlaced gloves and a dancing pair of lovers carried away by the wind into the sky.
As a bonus, guests will also be able to view an additional 35-minute film inspired by the performance.
On the Wings of Hermès will show at level B2 of Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre from 19 to 28 July. Admission is free and visitors can book their visit online.
