A lot is happening on the streaming front this September, but we’ve got you covered—read on to learn more about the seven shows you definitely shouldn’t skip this month.
Tempest
Explosions, car chases, gunfights, political intrigue—and Gianna Jun at the heart of it all. In Tempest, the iconic Korean actress stars as an internationally respected diplomat with a heart of gold, caught in the middle of a global conspiracy reaching as far as the White House. In search of answers, she enlists a mysterious, steely mercenary, played by Gang Dong-won, to act as her bodyguard. The star-studded spy thriller promises thrilling action sequences, plenty of twists, and sparks flying between K-drama veterans Jun and Gang. We’ll be tuning in no matter what.
Tempest premieres on Disney+ on 10 September.
Wednesday, Season 2: Part 2
No spoilers if you aren’t caught up with the first half of Wednesday, Season 2, but the fun’s not over at Nevermore. Our favourite deadpan leading lady’s adventures continue in the second half of the season, with many eerily creepy loose threads left to tie up. The trailer leaves us with more questions than answers, teasing the inexplicable return of Principal Weems, the much-hyped Lady Gaga guest role, and more mother-daughter clashes between Morticia and Wednesday. As Halloween creeps closer, we can’t wait to get spooky with our favourite child of woe.
Part 2 of Wednesday, Season 2 premieres on Netflix on 3 September.
The Murky Stream
Rowoon and the Joseon dynasty are starting to seem like a match made in heaven. The star of The Matchmakers and The King’s Affection is back for another period piece set in this storied era of Korean history—this time, far from the intricate customs of royal politics, and deep into the seedy underbelly of corruption on the banks of the Joseon river. Rowoon plays a hardened gang enforcer running from his past, starring across Shin Ye-eun and Park Seo-ham, each with opposing interests and all willing to fight tooth and nail for them. The Murky Stream promises a gripping tale of betrayal, crime, and a fierce fight for justice.
The Murky Stream premieres on Disney+ on 26 September.
Alice in Borderland, Season 3
This sadistically gripping science-fiction hit is the most-watched Japanese title in Netflix’s catalogue, and for good reason. Alice in Borderland is back for a third season, and the stakes are only getting higher. In the highly anticipated upcoming season, Arisu and Usagi find themselves back at square one in the liminal and ever-changing Borderland. Tao Tsuchiya, who plays fan favourite Usagi, gave viewers a hint of the drama expected in season three, promising that “as the players become more desperate, everyone’s performances become more intense and dramatic.”
Alice in Borderland, Season 3 premieres on Netflix on 25 September.
The Dark Dice
You might think your weekly board game nights get competitive, but they don’t hold a candle to the deadly stakes brought to life in The Dark Dice. The mind-bending new Thai thriller follows a group of high school students caught in the middle of a supernaturally real board game with life and death stakes. Gemini Norawit plays the once brilliant, now disgraced Samut, who sets a dangerous series of events into motion upon rolling a pair of magic dice. We’re particularly excited to see GRAZIA Singapore cover girl Prim shine in a main role as Om, pitted against her fellow students in the dark new thriller.
The Dark Dice premieres on Viu on 10 September, with new episodes released every Wednesday.
Pokémon Concierge, Season 1: Part 2
If the first few episodes of this heart-warming series were anything to go by, the second half of the season is going to feel like a warm hug. The meticulously crafted stop-motion series follows a group of our favourite Pokémon as they relax and recharge at the peaceful Pokémon Hotel, guided by friendly concierge Haru. Expect a plot-light comfort watch from this visually stunning show, perfect for a rainy weekend afternoon.
Part 2 of Pokémon Concierge, Season 1 premieres on Netflix on 4 September.
House of Guinness

Peaky Blinders meets Succession in Netflix’s gritty, sardonically funny new family drama set in 1800s Dublin. The upcoming series focuses on the Guinness clan following the death of patriarch Sir Benjamin Guinness, as they gain control of the family business and are suddenly tasked with maintaining the world’s largest brewery. Each member of the dysfunctionally charming family has secrets to hide and axes to grind, and if you’ll excuse the pun, trouble seems to be brewing.
House of Guinness premieres on Netflix on 25 September.
