You know the drill. A new month means a whole new slate of TV shows and films to catch. But this month, the lineup is more exciting than ever. With new K-dramas that will make your heart sing (or pound) and award-winning films, there are so many new programmes to add to your must-watch list this April. Plus, the month also sees the return of a couple of crowd pleasers (it’s time to wave hello to Joe Goldberg).

Ahead, we highlight five new shows that you need to stream this April.

Karma

This April, K-drama fans can look forward to the release of Karma, a dark thriller starring Park Hae-Soo, Shin Min-A and Lee Hee-Jun. Not your typical romcom series, Karma follows the story of six ill-fated individuals who find their fates inexplicably tied after a tragic accident occurs. Diehard fans of the Korean acting scene will definitely recognise Shin, from her previous roles in Hometown Cha Cha Cha (2021) and My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho (2010).

Karma is premiering on Netflix on 4 April.

You: Season 5

By now, everyone knows the story of stalker-killer Joe Goldberg and his poor victims. The fifth and final season of Netflix’s You is premiering this April, four years after the release of its previous season (which saw Goldberg posing as a professor in London). In the final season of You, Goldberg, played by Penn Badgley of Gossip Girl fame, finally seeks his happily ever after in New York City, but not for long before ghosts of his past come to haunt him.

The final season of You will be available on Netflix starting 24 April.

Black Mirror: Season 7

Black Mirror is back for its seventh season in 2025, more than two years after its last season ran in 2023. The critically acclaimed anthology series, which shook audiences worldwide with its mind-bending plots centred around humankind’s darkest and most destructive traits, introduces themes of artificial intelligence, disrupted realities in its newest season, which still star Emma Corrin, Awkwafina and more.

Black Mirror Season 7 will be available to stream on Netflix from 10 April.

Resident Playbook

Heart-wrenching, emotional and stirring, Hospital Playlist (2020) remains one of the most popular K-dramas in recent decades (remember binge-watching the episodes during the height of Covid-19?). Now, in 2025. we’re getting a Hospital Playlist spin-off in Resident Playbook, which follows the lives of young residents in a Korean obstetrician and gynecologist hospital ward, as they navigate the trials of their professional and personal lives.

Stream Resident Playbook on Netflix from 12 April onwards.

A Real Pain

A Real Pain stars Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin as mismatched cousins who travel through Poland on a Jewish heritage tour, in honour of their late grandmother. The award-winning film came out just in 2024 but is now available for streaming on Disney+. Heartfelt but brimming with wit (thanks to Eisenberg’s brilliant directing and writing chops), this film not only explores the difficulties of navigating family tensions but also delves into deeper themes of love, loss and heritage.

You can stream A Real Pain on Disney+ from 9 April.
