As a new month approaches, here comes a slew of new titles to keep you wholly entertained. Whether you’re a fan of laugh-out-loud comedies, swoon-worthy romances or tear-jerking dramas, these streaming services have something special in store for everyone in the upcoming month. 

Below, we’ve curated a selection of titles from Netflix and Viu worth streaming in May 2024.

Super Rich In Korea

Step into the world of the megarich and get a glimpse of their extravagant lifestyles in the heart of Korea through this unscripted reality TV series. Super Rich In Korea showcases five ultra-wealthy individuals from diverse backgrounds who have made Seoul their lavish playground because of their deep appreciation for Korean culture. The cast includes David Yong, a Singaporean tycoon; Teodoro Marani, a successor to an Italian luxury brand; Kim Anna, a Pakistani royal member; Yoo Heera, a Korean socialite with a love for fashion, and Noor Naim, an Iraqi social media sensation. Hosted by comedian Cho Saeho and K-pop stars BamBam of GOT7 and Mimi of OHMYGIRL, the show invites viewers to indulge in an opulent fantasy by living vicariously through real-life elites.

Bridgerton Season 3

Get on your horses and tighten your corsets, season three of Bridgerton is just around the corner. For those new to the series, Bridgerton is a historical romantic television show based on Julia Quinn’s books that delves into the social lives of eight siblings from the esteemed Bridgerton family as they navigate London high society. Each season shines a spotlight on one Bridgerton sibling, and season three promises to unravel the captivating love story between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton. Penelope decides to let go of her long-held feelings for Colin after hearing him declare that he has no plans to pursue her romantically. She sets out to find a husband and enlists the help of Colin, who is eager to mend their friendship. As the pair spends more time together, a deeper connection blossoms between them, blurring the lines between friendship and romance.

Mother Of The Bride

Weddings and rom-coms go hand in hand, just like bread and butter. Mother Of The Bride is Netflix’s latest romantic comedy starring beloved stars from our childhood like Brooke Shields, Miranda Cosgrove and Chad Michael Muray. The movie is guaranteed to be a hit when it’s directed by Mark Waters, the creative mind behind classic chick flicks such as He’s All That, Mean Girls and Freaky Friday. The story follows Lana, the mother of the bride, whose world gets flipped upside down when her daughter Emma makes a shocking announcement: she’s getting married next month in Thailand. But that’s not all, Emma’s fiance happens to be the son of Lana’s ex-boyfriend, adding more complication to an already rocky situation.

The 8 Game

As you await the highly anticipated release of Squid Game Season 2 consider tuning in to The 8 Game in the interim. The 8 Game is an upcoming South Korean survival game drama series adapted from Bae Jin Soo’s Korean webtoon, Money Game. Eight individuals facing financial difficulties are invited to participate in a game show. The task? survive in a stark studio for 100 days in order to win a shared grand prize of 44.8 billion dollars. The catch? Every expense they incur, from basic necessities to utilities, is inflated to a thousand times its regular cost and subtracted from the prize money. As they are pushed to their limits, each character must confront the moral dilemma of choosing between money or life.

Secret Ingredient

Secret Ingredient is a Korean-Filipino romance drama starring Julia Barretto and Lee Sang Heon who is best known for his role as Minho from XO, Kitty. The story follows a Korean man who leaves his lavish lifestyle behind in Seoul to reunite with his childhood sweetheart living in the Philippines. As they bond over their shared passion for cooking, love blossoms along the way.

Love Reset

We all love a good romantic comedy with a hilariously absurd plot. Love Reset is a 2023 South Korean romantic-comedy film starring Kang Haneul and Jung Somin that follows the story of a married couple who lost all their memories after encountering a tragic accident on the day of their divorce. Now, as strangers to each other, the amnesiac couple is granted a second chance at love. Meanwhile, in the background, their family members are determined to break them apart by orchestrating an elaborate 30-day plan to restore their memories and finalise the divorce.
