Upscale takes on local food seem to be a popular offering at restaurants this year. Choon Hoy Parlor, for one, is updating their usual selection with a special edition of their Communal Menu for this occasion, while Masterchef Singapore judge Damian D’Silva is presenting a box of local kuehs—think: the colourful Gao Teng Kueh and Putugal—at his restaurant, Rempapa.

Meanwhile, The Gyu Bar, which prides itself in only using premium cuts of wagyu from Japan in its dishes, is incorporating the meat into local comfort food like Bak Kut Teh and Otak.

Other restaurants with special offers to check out? French-Japanese diner Camille—famed for its flat iron steak—and The Marmalade Pantry, for its crowd-favourite high tea selection.

Choon Hoy Parlor

For a refreshing take on Singapore’s unique cuisine this National Day, Choon Hoy Parlor elevates local familiar favourites that defines what they call “Singaporean Soul Food”.

In celebration of Singapore’s 59th year of independence, Choon Hoy Parlor presents a special edition of their Communal Menu priced at $59.90++ per person (min. 3 pax) and a limited Ngo Hiang Platter priced at $39.90++ available à la carte from 1 to 10 August.

Special menu highlights include: Our Rojak Our Own Way, Fragrant Ginger Flower Broth Braised Pig Ear Salad, and their Signature Hainanese Kampong Chicken.

Chef and Masterchef Singapore judge Damian D’Silva takes on a multi-cultural feast at his restaurant, Rempapa, this National Day. Titled “Home Sweet Home”, the homegrown restaurant presents their Multi-ethnic Kueh Box in a set of 5 for $12 and set of 10 for $24.

The box houses a variety of kueh from local ethnicities, like the 9-layered Gao Teng Kueh, banana-stuffed Putugal made with tapioca and the airy Sarang Semut.

Available from now to 11 August for dine-in, takeaway and delivery pre-ordered at least 3 days in advance, try these delicious local treats from this local restaurant.

Another favourite pick from our list of restaurants this National Day? This French-Japanese place is perfect for the most aesthetically pleasing dishes for the gram.

Located near the sandy beaches of Sentosa, Camille presents a specially curated 3-course dinner menu at $85++ per diner (with a minimum of 2 guests) to commemorate this National Day from 6 to 9 August and 11 August.

Menu highlights include the Argentinian Flat Iron Steak and a complimentary cocktail—the Pandan Paradise, featuring bold notes of Kraken rum and infused with gula melaka, pandan syrup, coconut milk and whipping cream.

Limited to just 10 islanders per day, this menu is not to be missed.

The Marmalade Pantry

High tea lovers, this is for you—it’s time to meet your bestie for a session at The Marmalade Pantry. Commemorating both National Day and their 25th anniversary, the homegrown bistro presents their special 25th Anniversary Afternoon Tea set at $78++ good for two. Available from 1 August onwards, the set stars a great selection of both sweet and savoury bites playing on popular localised flavours.

The Gyu Bar

This National Day, enjoy local dishes with a twist at The Gyu Bar from 1 to 11 August. Priced at $59, the limited-edition National Day Combo comes as a bundle of two dishes: the Wagyu Bak Kut Teh and the Wagyu Otak Katsu Sando.

The former is an elevated version of the comfort food, seeing Kagoshima rib fingers, bean curd puffs and bean curd skin being added to the flavourful spiced broth. The sando is heartier, combining the spicy fish paste in the traditional otak with Kagoshima Wagyu in a golden-brown cutlet then stacked between cucumbers, tomatoes, scrambled eggs and Japanese shokupan.

The Gyu Bar is located at 30 #01-08 Stevens Road.
