When Miranda Priestly told Andy Sachs in Paris to stop being ridiculous as “everybody wants this”, she must have been referring to the news that Netflix has green-lit the second season of the irreverent romantic comedy, Nobody Wants This. Debuting at number one, the Los Angeles-based series follows early aughts teen-drama television stars Adam Brody and Kristen Bell as they navigate their unexpected non-secular flirtation.

Of course, the endless lust over Brody’s ‘Hot Rabbi‘ character Noah and the resurgence of our adolescent obsessions over his role as Seth Cohen in The OC would’ve been enough proof to convince the streaming conglomerate that audiences were clambering for more—especially after the season one finale cliffhanger. But with Nobody Wants This debuting with 10.3 million views in its first four days, it’s unsurprising that a renewal arrived less than a fortnight after it aired.
Now, there’s been some exciting updates regarding its return.

Tackling the awkwardness of new love, meddling families and the added tension of conflicting religious ideologies, Nobody Wants This is the perfect show to binge-watch with a glass of orange wine and a slice of chocolate babka. And with the promise of ten more episodes, keep scrolling below for everything we know about the second season of Nobody Wants This, from the plot to new cast members and the all-important release date. Mazel!
What Is Nobody Wants This About?
Netflix’s Nobody Wants This follows Kristen Bell as Joanne, a sexually empowered and agnostic podcaster who hosts a dating-focused show, despite having difficulties finding her perfect match. After meeting Adam Brody’s Noah, a sensitive (and attractive) Rabbi who has just ended a chaotic engagement, at a mutual friend’s dinner party, they begin teasing with the possibilities of falling in love despite their glaring differences.

The series is based on executive producer and creator Erin Foster’s real-life romance with her husband, Simon Tikhman. Like Sex And The City’s Charlotte York and Harry Goldenblatt or Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge, Foster converted to Judaism after dating as Tikhman wanted to marry a Jewish woman.
Season one is unclear if her fictional counterpart will continue down the same path—you’ll have to watch that ending Bat Mitzvah scene to understand why—so viewers must eagerly await the next instalment to find out if the couple goes the distance.

Given that Foster’s own story fuels much of the show’s plotline, fans can also keep up with the writer and showrunner through her podcast, The World’s First Podcast, which she hosts with her sister, Sara Foster. The duo are actually the middle daughters of music producer David Foster, who you may recognise as Yolanda Hadid’s ex-husband from her run on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Not only does that make the Fosters’ ex-step siblings Gigi and Bella Hadid, but they also share a connection to the Kardashian-Jenner family through their father’s third marriage to Linda Thompson. Thompson was married to Caitlyn Jenner for five years, from 1981 – 1986, with the former couple sharing two sons, Brandon and Brody Jenner. Just to bring their family ties full circle, Brody Jenner was also a cast member of The Hills—a cult reality TV programme that would’ve never been made if it wasn’t for the success of The OC, the show that gave Adam Brody his breakout role.
Who will be in Nobody Wants This Season 2?
While Bell and Brody are set to reprise their leading roles, it’s been revealed that Leighton Meester—Brody’s real-life wife of ten years—will be joining the cast.
According to Variety, the Gossip Girl alum will play Abby, Joanne’s middle school nemesis, who is now an Instagram mommy influencer—a plot dynamic ripe for comedy and frustration, we imagine.
Miles Fowler will also newly star as Lenny, said to be Noah’s Matzah Ballers basketball teammate who gets set up with Morgan, Joanne’s acerbic sister.
What Is The Plot Of Nobody Wants This Season 2?

For those who have already devoured the first season, you’ll know that Noah will face uncertainty in season two after seemingly giving up his promotion at his synagogue to be with Joanne after she backs down on converting for him.
Foster herself has hinted at what will unfold in the next chapter. Speaking to IndieWire ahead of the show’s launch, Foster shared that “the story in Season 1 unfolds really slowly, and so I think if there is a Season 2, I would want to just kind of pick up where we leave off and continue to take it slow because I don’t want us to get too far ahead of ourselves.” She noted that she also has hopes for the show to “be on the air as long as possible!”
What Is The Release Date For Nobody Wants This Season 2?
Currently, Netflix has not confirmed when the Hot Rabbi will return to our screens. Given the show has been out for just a few months, it would appear that we’ll have to wait until the later half of 2025 to get our fix. In the meantime, your favourite noughties scripted dramas like The OC, Gossip Girl and Veronica Mars are all available to stream now to fill the Adam Brody and Kristen Bell-sized hole in your heart.
