A gigantic wave of K-Movies will hit the shores of Singapore soon.
In August, The Moon, starring EXO’s D.O, will premiere. Fans can also look forward to Jung Woo-sung’s directorial debut in Man of Reason, set to premiere in September.

1. The Moon (9 Aug)
This intense survival film talks about an astronaut stranded alone on the Moon.
It stars EXO’s heartthrob, Doh Kyung-soo, better known as D.O, as an astronaut named Hwang Sun-Woo. The movie also features renowned actors Sul Kyung-gu and Kim Hee-ae.
Directed by Kim Yong-hwa, the man behind the ground-breaking series Along with the Gods, fans can keep expectations high for The Moon.
The Moon arrives in local cinemas on 9 Aug (Wed).
2. Concrete Utopia (24 Aug)
Concrete Utopia is the most expensive Korean disaster film to have ever been made, according to a press statement.
It is a post-apocalyptic Korean film, loosely based on the popular webtoon Joyful Outcast by Kim Sung-nyung. It explores the consequences of a deadly earthquake that wrecked Seoul.
Gear up to be dazzled by the likes of Park Seo-jun, Lee Byung-hoon and Park Bo-young. With this line-up of exceptional cast and their undeniable chemistry together, the film will bring viewers a new cinematic experience like no other.
Concrete Utopia arrives in local cinemas on 24 Aug (Thu).
3. A Man of Reason (7 Sep)
A Man of Reason is actor Jung Woo-sung’s directorial debut.
The talented lad previously starred in numerous high-grossing box office hits such as Steel Rain (2017), The King (2017), and The Divine Move (2014).
But his 2022 film A Man of Reason will be a heart-thumping thriller about a complex man who wishes to wash his hands off the underground but is forced to go on a hunt to rescue his daughter from a crime boss.
According to The Korea Herald, the film sold to 153 countries. Its intense action scenes and raw display of emotions make it a must-watch.
A Man of Reason arrives in local cinemas on 7 Sep (Thu).
4. Sleep (TBC)
Screened at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Sleep is a highly-anticipated mystery thriller.
It stars Lee Sun-kyun of Parasite (2019) and Jung Yu-mi of Train to Busan (2016). It tells the chilling story about a newlywed couple’s happy-ever-after turning into a nightmare, when the husband starts behaving abnormally in his sleep.
Director Bong Joon-ho also lauded the film as “the most unique horror film and the smartest debut film I’ve seen in 10 years”.
5. Hopeless (Oct)
Hopeless is a crime thriller that revolves around a master-apprentice relationship: a tough mid-level criminal boss takes in a shy and awkward boy who has lost hope in the world.
It stars one of Korea’s biggest stars, Song Joong-ki. Song boasts an impressive line-up of notable works such as Descendants of the Sun (2016) and Reborn Rich (2022), so you can be sure that he will have a powerful display of raw emotions throughout this feature.
Hopeless arrives in local cinemas in October.
