Art is taking over our little island in the month of January. From exhibitions, installations and even international art fairs, January is shaping up to be a truly exciting month for art enthusiasts and collectors alike. Across the island, both traditional art spaces—like galleries and exhibition halls—and more contemporary venues have undergone dramatic transformations, in a major islandwide art takeover.

But don’t be mistaken—art events are not just reserved for aesthetes. Singapore Art Week (SAW), now in its 13th edition, promises a slew of engaging activities for all age groups. Consider your weekend plans sorted.

From 17–26 January, there is an abundance of new spaces to check out, courtesy of SAW. The 2025 iteration of this yearly event is back, and this year, the programme for SAW includes over 100 exhibitions, installations and activities created by both local and international visual artists, across six vibrant districts.

Some must-see shows from SAW 2025 include Brushes & Lines: Illustrators At Play, which brings together five artists from around the globe through their visual storytelling prowess, and No Patents on Ideas by Bangkok-based artist Pratchaya Phintong. Another notable exhibition to check out is La Vie en Strass by French artist Shourouk Rhaiem, who recently worked with beauty label Guerlain. Rhaiem’s opulent, crytallised pieces have been worn by the likes of Lady Gaga and Michelle Obama.

ArtSG

Taking place from 17–19 January, Art SG is Southeast Asia’s leading international art fair. First established in 2023, the fair—which takes place annually at Marina Bay Sands—features the works of artists and galleries from all over the world to display their pieces. Prompting spirited cross-cultural dialogue within Southeast Asian and the large global art communities, Art SG is a great opportunity to engage with some of the most striking lineup of art.

A notable booth to check out is Richard Koh Fine Art, which features the bright tinsel art pieces of local artist Samuel Xun, who collaborated with Dior in 2024, for the French house’s Lady Dior As Seen By project.

Artbox Everyday

Art and lifestyle join hands at the 2025 edition of Artbox. This year, the annual creative festival has grown into Artbox Everyday, and is set to take place over two weekends this month: 17–19 and 24–26 January. Over 600 art booth and retail vendors culminate at Artbox Everyday, which is held this year at the Singapore Expo.

In addition, Artbox is also presenting Artbox Estate, an engaging community-driven installation. The three storey-tall container reimagines iconic HDB estates, and also offers a robust programme of different activities and collections from regional artists.
