Each holiday season, we bring together creative families— from siblings and couples to dynamic collectives—to celebrate the unique bonds that define their relationships. These families remind us that creativity isn’t just about artistic expression; it’s about connection. The magic of the season lies not only in the shared creativity but in the moments where love flows through thoughtful gestures, quality time, and the language that speaks to the heart. Next on our “Love Languages” series is sibling-duo: comedian Farah Lola and musician Fariz Jabba. Here, they tells us about the special bond they share.

Farah, how would you describe Fariz? What is his role in your life?

Farah Lola (FL): Fariz will always be my baby brother, but at the same time, [he’s] also one of my best friends in life. Usually when I am upset he would be the voice of emotional reason and for that reason I think he is a great balance in my life. I know with him there would be absolutely no judgement when I need to laugh or rage at something!

Fariz, how would you describe Farah? What is her role in your life?

Fariz Jabba (FJ): My sister is always there for me when I need her the most. When there’s uncertainty in my life or when my confidence is lowered, she always knows how to set my mind straight again and make me feel better. How do you each like to express your love and support to one another?

FL: Lately it has been sending Tiktoks to each other. Even if I don’t express it to him, I show him off a lot with pride to other people. I think to express love is to support and believe in something he is so passionate about, in this case his music.

What is something unique or special about the bond you share with each other, that you don’t experience with anyone else?

FJ: I feel that I never have to prove myself to my sister.

FL: It’s definitely our sense of humour. We’ve had to explain many times why we are absolutely losing it laughing our butts off to other people just because it’s so unique to our family.

What is one of your favourite ways to spend time together?

FL: I like showing Fariz iconic movies that he hasn’t seen and seeing his over the top reaction. Can you believe he hasn’t watched The Godfather till this year?

What is the most memorable gift you have received from each other?

FL: I don’t think he has actually ever given me a physical present, so maybe he should start so I can answer this question genuinely! But on a serious note, his willingness to be present immediately when things get hard is something I truly appreciate.

FJ: Money when I need it the most!

Farah, what is something that Fariz has said to you that has stuck with you?

FL: “Chill la.” It is something so annoyingly simple but sometimes seeing Fariz so calm and collected about something I am absolutely overreacting about gives me perspective that some things are just not that serious.

Fariz, what is something that Farah has said to you that has stuck with you?

FJ: Farah has said that it doesn’t matter who, but whoever hurts me in any way is her enemy.

What have you learned from each other about loving and supporting someone?

FL: As an older sister, it feels natural for me to want to step in and help during tough times. However, I’ve learned that sometimes the greatest support is giving [Fariz] space and respecting his ability to handle things on his own.

What do you look out for when shopping for the perfect gift for someone?

FL: Something that they would use in their everyday life and something that highlights their personality. I believe gifts should be something they want and not what they need, though!

How do you spend the holidays meaningfully?

FL: Just being together [with loved ones] and remembering why we enjoy each other’s company so much.

FJ: Doing activities together and resting together [with loved ones].
