How would you describe yourself in three words?
Hwang Sebin (HS): Easygoing, confident, independent.

How did you find your niche?
HS: I think my niche on Youtube is vlogging and sharing about my lifestyle. I started on Youtube during the Covid-19 pandemic, when I was in high school. At that time, since people couldn’t travel, it seemed like many were curious about the daily life of Koreans and watched my videos a lot. Since then, my views have increased, and I felt that many people started paying attention to me. I think many people have been watching my videos from then till now! I have subscribers from all over the world now, and they like to watch me share about my life.

At first, I received feedback that my videos were always the same, becauseI only filmed vlogs. But these days, I’m trying out new content, such as Korean styling, fashion and makeup, that people might like.

Do you respond to trends or do your own thing?
HS: I usually try to keep up with the trends, and sometimes I film what I want to do. When it comes to responding to trends, I like to blend my personal interests with what’s popular. I try to bring a unique perspective by adding my own creativity or expertise to the topic. For instance, if the trend is about a specific type of content, like fashion or makeup, I might incorporate elements of Korean styling that appeal to both local and international audiences. This way, I stay true to myself while also catering to current interests, creating a niche that sets me apart from others. It’s all about finding that balance between staying relevant and staying authentic to my own style and interests.

What is your idea of cool?
HS: Navigating various social situations with ease, and having a unique style or perspective is cool.

How do you stay creative and keep evolving?
HS: I usually find inspiration and references from Instagram Reels and Tiktok; by referring to other creators’ videos it inspires me to come up with my own new ideas. I follow creators who can both educate and entertain me, offering valuable insights or enjoyable content that align with my interests and help me discover new perspectives.

How do you deal with competition?
HS: I don’t compete. I just go my own way. [laughs]

Does being publicly visible motivate you or scare you? How do you handle criticism?
HS: Sometimes it scares me, but meeting my fans in person motivates me. I tend to accept constructive criticism and just ignore unnecessary criticism. I don’t get upset all day just because of others’ criticism—I learn and move on.

What are some new things that you’ve been trying out?
HS: I’m trying to make a variety of different content, creating not only vlogs but also videos on makeup, hairstyles and fashion. I’ve also been trying out various fashion styles.

What excites you?
HS: A high number of views… [laughs]

What is a motto that you live by?
HS: Live happily without any regrets!
