Just last week, Spanish luxury label Loewe welcomed Thai actor Tawan Vihokratana as its newest Friend of the House. But who, really, is he? Among fans, Vihokratana is better known as Tay Tawan, the actor making waves in both television and in the world of luxury fashion. Best loved for his vibrant personality, the 33-year-old is unafraid of being himself—a rare quality in today’s world, if you ask us.
From early career highlights to his celebrity best friend and his journey so far with Loewe, here are five things you didn’t know about Tay.
Before Acting, There Was Hosting
Tay first came onto the scene back in 2014, at the tender age of 23. While he is now widely recognised for his acting and modelling work, not many people know that Tay originally kicked off his career as a host, for the Thai TV show Five Live Fresh. The youth-focused music show was broadcasted on Bang Channel, the Thai entertainment giant now known as GMMTV.
It’s thanks to this show that we have a decade’s worth of Tay content to look back on. Even from the beginning, his passion for the entertainment scene was palpable. It didn’t take long for people to notice him, and the rest, as they say, is history.
He Has A Degree In Economics
The Thai star is not just a beauty; he has the brains to match. Initially enrolled at Chulalongkorn University (one of Thailand’s top universities) for chemistry, Tay wound up finding his passions—aside from acting—elsewhere. He eventually graduated from the Thai college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics.
BTW, Tay isn’t the only famous student from Chulalongkorn; GRAZIA Singapore cover star Tu Tontawan also graduated from the prestigious school with a degree in dentistry.
He Got His First Major Acting Gig in 2017
Tay didn’t waste any time getting into acting. In 2014—the same year he embarked on a career as a TV host and personality—he dove headfirst into a slew of acting projects. He took on supporting roles in various shows, such as Room Alone 401-410 (2014), Lovey Dovey (2016) and Kiss Me (2016), but it wasn’t till 2017 that he received a major role for a show. His big break came through the series Secret Seven, and he gained even more popularity through Kiss Me Again (2018), the sequel to 2016’s Kiss Me.
He’s Good Friends With New Aka Thitipoom Techaapaikhun
Over the course of his 11-year career, Tay has worked many co-stars, but perhaps none of them share a relationship with Tay quite like Thitipoom Techaapaikhun, aka New. The duo has starred in numerous projects together, including Kiss: The Series (2016), Kiss Me Again (2018), and Dark Blue Kiss (2019). So it’s no wonder that the two boys have developed a close relationship, both on- and off-screen. Tay and New are often spotted together; at events, work projects and even on their off-duty days.
Most recently, the pair took leading roles opposite each other in Cherry Magic (2023), the Thai adaptation of a Japanese manga of the same name. The series quickly went viral, especially in Southeast Asia, once again placing the spotlight on both Tay and New as the hottest young Thai actors of the season.
He Loves Photography
Take a swipe through Tay’s Instagram page, and it won’t take long to see that photography is one of his greatest loves. From artsy film photos of his daily life to candid snaps of his loved ones, his creativity flows with every post.
Beyond sweet photos of his friends and family, another thing Tay loves to photograph is his frequent travels. Whether he’s trawling through a busy street or enjoying a peaceful day by the beach, it’s clear that Tay loves documenting every precious moment—and we’re here for it.
His Relationship With Loewe Is Just Beginning
Last year at Paris Fashion Week, the 33-year-old made an appearance at Loewe’s Spring/Summer 2025 runway show, much to his fans’s delight. This March, the multihyphenate visited the City of Love again, this time, to attend the Spanish maison’s Fall 2025 collection presentation.
And now, as the newly minted Friend of the House, Tay is taking his relationship with Loewe to the next level. On his new role with the brand, he shares in a press statement, “Our collaboration has been nothing short of inspiring from the start, and I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to collaborate further and share new avant-garde ideas on fashion.”
There are big things on the horizon for Tay, and we can’t wait.
