Margot Robbie is making a bold return to the red carpet. At today’s Los Angeles photocall for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, her first major outing since welcoming her child, the actor offered a masterclass in reinventing a timeless silhouette with modern edge.
At first glance, the micro-dress, plucked from Stella McCartney‘s Resort 2026 collection, appeared to echo the familiar tropes of the LBD—spaghetti straps, tight bodice, cropped hemline, etc. But upon closer inspection, the sculptural beauty of the look becomes clearer. Featuring a corset bustier with exposed boning, the architectural aesthetic was softened with sheer panelling that traced her midriff before deepening into an opaque mini skirt. Padded hips exaggerated her hourglass figure, imbuing the look with a retro 80s-style drama.

Styled by her longtime collaborator (and the genius mind behind her Barbie press tour), Andrew Mukamal, Robbie balanced the bold glamour with the restraint of minimalist accessories. Strappy black heels, straight hair with a hint of texture, and a luminous, peachy complexion.

Nearly a year has passed since Robbie last stepped onto the red carpet—then, heavily pregnant and leaning towards softer silhouettes. Now, her choice of a micro LBD for her comeback feels like an appetiser to some seriously good looks that she and Mukamal have up their sleeves for the rest of the film’s press circuit.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is a moving romantic fantasy drama directed by Kogonada that follows two single strangers, Sarah (Robbie) and David (Colin Farrell). As they get to talking at a mutual friend’s wedding, they stumble upon doors that force them to relive significant moments from their respective pasts, illuminating how they got to where they are in the present together.
