A week ago, Jungkook of BTS dropped his highly-anticipated debut studio album Golden (2023).
The album featured pre-released tracks like Seven (2023) and 3D (2023). It also came along with surprises, like the title number Standing Next To You (2023).
In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Jungkook said that Standing Next To You happens to be his favourite song in the album.
“I could see myself right away performing on stage with the song,” he said. The track has a special place in his heart too, because the recording process of the song was arduous on its own.
And the 26-year-old-singer has got a word of advice. Don’t listen to the song with earphones or through a smartphone, try blasting it out on speakers instead.
Looking back, Busan-born Jungkook said he was quiet and introverted when he first went to Seoul. “Everything was so new that it was almost scary,” he said. As time passes by, he’s used to it.
In a group setting, Jungkook, born in 1997, is the youngest among the seven of them. South Koreans usually term the youngest member as the maknae. He later got the nickname golden maknae.
Jungkook himself doesn’t dislike being the youngest member of the band. He received help from his fellow bandmates along the way, and all that culminated in where he is today.
That’s also how his newest album, Golden, came about.
Diving deeper into it, he shared that none of the songs were his personal stories. They’re all love songs though, so it’s a very universal feeling that listeners can all relate to.
