On August 24, Justin Bieber shared the sweet news that Hailey Bieber had given birth to their first child. Posting a photo of the supermodel-turned-mogul holding the baby’s pocket sized foot in her signature chrome-manicured hand, the musician simply captioned the image, “Welcome home”. Bieber quelled any anticipation around their son’s name by revealing the newborn’s traditional yet tender title, Jack Blues Bieber, alongside a bear emoji.
Given the heightened interest surrounding what the Biebers would call their bub—including speculation that Plum and Blossom were on their list if he was a girl—netizens were undeniably surprised by their conventional choice. However, the selection has a deeper and more special meaning, as Jack is also the middle name of Justin’s father, Jeremy Bieber. Jack’s arrival also means that three generations of Bieber men share the ‘JB’ initials.
As per the United States’ baby registry, ‘Jack’ has increasingly become more in demand with the name currently ranked 14 in popularity. Blues, on the other hand, is more of a specialist epithet and has not entered the top 1000 names in history. Of course, the musical-inspired moniker has also drawn parallels to another nepo baby, Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s eldest daughter Blue Ivy Carter.
The Rhode Beauty founder has not yet publicly addressed the birth except for resharing her husband’s post on her Instagram stories. The couple announced their pregnancy in May this year after sharing images from their tropical vow renewal ceremony in Hawaii. Bieber was already far along, showing off her baby bump and maternity style in a body-conscious lace wedding dress from Saint Laurent.
The 27-year-old recently opened up about her choice to share her journey to motherhood with the world, revealing to W Magazine that she probably could have hid it until the end.” “I didn’t enjoy the stress of not being able to enjoy my pregnancy outwardly,” she said. “I felt like I was hiding this big secret, and it didn’t feel good. I wanted the freedom to go out and live my life.”
Bieber has also previously addressed her apprehension about raising a child in the public eye. “I want kids so bad, but I get scared,” she told the Sunday Times in May. “It’s enough that people say things about my husband or my friends… I can’t imagine having to confront people saying things about a child.”
In the days since Jack’s birth, there’s been nothing but an outpouring of love and support for the Bieber’s bundle of joy. Close friends like Kendall Jenner haven’t addressed the announcement publicly, but Kylie Jenner left the following message, “I can’t handle this little foot. JACK BLUES 🩵🩵🩵” Congratulations to Hailey and Justin, and their little drummer boy!
