Thai actress Tontawan “Tu” Tantivejakul is no stranger to us—and for good reason. As one of Thailand’s most captivating young talents, she continues to enchant us with her warmth, introspection, and undeniable charm. This year has been a whirlwind for the actress, and her third feature with GRAZIA Singapore is perfectly timed to celebrate the season of giving and reflection.

“I’m so happy to be back with GRAZIA for the third time,” Tu shares. “The last time we met was in March, and now the year is almost over—it’s been such a fun year!”

Part of that joy stems from the success of How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, a film that resonated deeply with audiences in Singapore and beyond. The box office hit delves into themes of family, ambition, and generational connections, blending humor and heart in its portrayal of chasing dreams. “It’s such an honour to have been part of it,” Tu says, her gratitude evident. “Everyone involved gave their all to this project, so seeing it succeed feels incredibly rewarding.”

The film’s impact is just one of two achievements that make this year particularly meaningful for Tu. “How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies was such a meaningful project for me, and I’m so proud of its success,” she reflects. “The second achievement I’m most proud of for this year is my studies—I’m so close to graduating now, and I feel like I’ve accomplished the goals I set for myself.”

With the holiday season now upon us, Tu takes a moment to share her favourite traditions, her reflections on the past year, and how she finds balance amidst her busy schedule.

GRAZIA Singapore (GS): How do you usually spend the holiday season? Are you more into quiet family moments, creative projects, or adventurous getaways?
Tu Tontawan (TT): For me, the holiday season is all about relaxing with the people around me, whether it’s family or friends. We spend time together, and it creates such a warm and special feeling.

GS: After a busy year of filming and events, what’s your go-to way of recharging?
TT:
Spending time with the people I love and taking time for myself. I like to focus on my own feelings and do things that I truly enjoy. It helps me recharge and find balance.

GS: Is there a book, film, or playlist you find yourself returning to every holiday season? Why does it hold a special place for you?
TT: Definitely Harry Potter! I’ve watched the series so many times, especially during the festive season. The Christmas scenes in the movies always bring this cosy, magical feeling—it’s like stepping into another world.

GS: No matter how busy life gets, what’s one thing you always make time for during the holidays?
TT:
Travelling! During festivals or holidays, I like to get out of Bangkok—maybe go to the beach or travel abroad. Being in nature is the perfect way to recharge.

GS: The holidays can be a time for introspection. Do you use this period to set goals or intentions for the year ahead?
TT: Yes, I think the New Year is a great time to set goals for yourself. But I don’t take it too seriously—whether I achieve them or not doesn’t matter as much as having a direction and something to look forward to.

GS: Do you see the holidays as a time to start fresh or as a moment to celebrate everything you’ve already accomplished?
TT:
For me, the New Year is about celebrating what I’ve achieved over the past year. Taking the time to appreciate your successes motivates you to keep going and reminds you of your self-worth. It’s so important to celebrate yourself.

GS: If you could write a thank-you note to 2024, what would it say?
TT:
Thank you, 2024, for not being too cruel to me. You taught me so many lessons and helped me grow. I’m grateful to the people who supported me and to myself—for staying true to who I am.
