Every year, the picturesque seaside town of the French Riviera attracts a star-studded crowd from around the world, uniting to celebrate yet another year of cinematic excellence. The 77th Cannes Film Festival is officially in full swing, showcasing some of the most talked-about films and fashion moments of the year. From Anya Taylor-Joy’s Dior tulle gown to Naomi Campbell’s vintage Chanel dress, the fashion moments displayed on the red carpet have been nothing short of spectacular. While these A-listers were the star of the show, there were also a few newcomers who made their debuts in equally remarkable ensembles deserving of special recognition.

Han So-hee In Cucculelli Shaheen

Han So-hee, known for her edgy, cool girl style, brought a whole new look to her first ever Cannes Film Festival. The South Korean actress looked completely ethereal in a sea foam green gown adorned with metallic sunburst embellishments, courtesy of Cucculelli Shaheen. Attending as the first South Korean brand ambassador of Boucheron, she accessorised with a spellbinding diamond necklace with floral accents.

Yoona Lim In Elly Sofocli

Following her red carpet debut in a pink princess-like ballgown, Yoona attended the Kering Women in Motion Dinner dressed in a satin white gown from Australian bridal label Elly Sofocli. Attending as the representative of the jewellery brand Qeelin, the SNSD member was the epitome of timeless grace and elegance wearing resplendent high jewellery from the house’s Wulu Lotus Pond collection.

Jung Hae-in

Jung Hae-in made his long-awaited debut at the world’s most prestigious film festival donning a classic black tuxedo. He was invited for the premiere of I, The Executioner (2024), the sequel to the action comedy film, Veteran (2015) which has been lauded as one of the highest-grossing films in South Korean cinematic history. The Snowdrop actor will star as Park Sun Woo, a young detective in the major crimes unit responsible for hunting down serial killers.

Rebecca Patricia Armstrong In Balenciaga

Best known for her GL drama, Gap: The Series (2022), Thai actress Rebecca Patricia Armstrong graced the red carpet in an avant-garde asymmetrical gown from Balenciaga. Embracing an monochromatic colour palette, she paired it with sleek black pumps and black stockings.

Freen Sarocha Chankimha In Eman Al Ajlan

Thai actress Freen Sarocha Chankimha graced the red carpet alongside her Gap: The Series (2022) co-star, Rebecca Patricia Armstrong, donning an exquisite scarlet tulle ball gown designed by Saudi Arabian designer Eman Al Ajlan, completed with high jewellery from Chopard.

Kiara Advani In Nedret Taciroglu

Bollywood actress Kiara Advani made a memorable red carpet debut at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in a pink and black mermaid gown with an exaggerated bow detailing at the back. She completed the look with black lace gloves and a statement necklace from Bvlgari.

Nancy Tyagi In Nancy Tyagi

How many stars on the red carpet can say they designed their own dresses? Indian fashion influencer Nancy Tyagi turned heads by rocking a gown she made herself, featuring pink ruffles and a stunning long train. This remarkable self-made gown that weighed over 20kg and stitched with 10,000 metres of fabric took a total of 30 days to create.

Hande Erçel In Balmain

Looks like bows and ribbons are here to stay, even on the red carpet. Turkish actress Hande Erçel was a vision in a striking red gown that boasts a dramatic bow detailing from Balmain’s Pre-Fall 2023 collection.

Bollywood actress Deepti Sadhwani might be a newcomer at the Cannes Film Festival but she has already cemented her status as a budding fashion icon on the red carpet. On the second day of the festival, she donned a Michael Cinco couture gown featuring a Swarovski embellished bustier top and neon yellow ruffles.

Camille Rowe In Balenciaga

Camille Rowe proves that red carpet attire doesn’t always need to be extravagant or over-the-top. French model and actress made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival in a sophisticated velvet black gown from Balenciaga’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection. She opted for minimal makeup, complementing her look with a sleek, tightly tied bun.
