Singapore’s hottest summer festival is about to get even hotter: Ash Island is set to bring the heat to Waterbomb Singapore 2025. The Korean hip-hop artist, who has carved a lane with his emotional honesty and dynamic performances, knows how to turn a performance into a full-on experience—and he’s more than ready to make waves here.

For fans here, he promises a performance that matches the climate—intense, electric, and unforgettable. “Singapore is such a hot and humid country, so I want to bring all that heat straight onto the stage with an energetic performance,” he teases. “Let’s blow the heat away together and have an unforgettable, refreshing time!”

For Ash Island, music has never been about crafting a persona—it’s about documenting the emotions that move through him in real time. “In the end, my music really comes from the emotions I feel in each moment—whether it’s through relationships, certain situations, or new feelings I encounter. If listeners sense pain or growth, it’s probably because I wrote them while experiencing those emotions myself.”

Despite being one of the most recognizable names in Korean hip-hop, he’s clear-eyed about the fact that he’s still evolving. “I think I still have a long way to go. There’s a lot I need to learn and fill in, and right now I’m just in the middle of that process.”

As for his performance style? Three words: energy, communion, dynamic. His festival fashion stays true to his personality too: simple, unfussy, and movement-friendly (because who needs complicated layers when water cannons are involved?). And yes, he’s got Singapore’s famed chili crab on his must-try list.

Before he hits the stage, we caught up with Ash Island in a special interview to talk about music, style, and what comes next.

GRAZIA Singapore (GS): First things first — welcome to Singapore! How does it feel to be part of Waterbomb 2025?
Ash Island (AI): The Waterbomb stage has always been very special to me, and every time I come, I feel like I take away something new. I’m truly honored to be part of the 2025 lineup, and I want to thank you sincerely for inviting me.

GS: Waterbomb is as much about style as it is about music — how would you describe your go-to summer or festival fashion?
AI: I think I like simple styles that feel like me, and that still look good even when they get sweaty or wet. I also tend to prefer clothes that let me move around comfortably.

GS: Are there any local foods you’re hoping to try while you’re here?
AI: I’ve heard that chili crab is famous in Singapore, and I really want to try it.

GS: What’s next for you after Waterbomb?
AI: I’ll continue moving forward, showing you better music, better performances, and many new things I can share.

GS: Lastly, what would you like to say to your Singapore fans who’ve come out to party with you this summer?
AI: I’ll never forget today’s energy. Thanks to all of you and to Waterbomb, this summer feels refreshing, and I’m leaving with a whole new energy. Love you guys!
