At GRAZIA Singapore HQ, the old excites us as much as the new and in this weekly column, we ask our fellow friends, industry-goers and beauty aficionados about the last thing they loved be it trends, products, or even the image they looked at when it came to inspiring themselves.
Here, freelance makeup artist and content creator Jezlynne Syazwani (@doublewks) lists down some of her lasts.
The last beauty product I finished was Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Advanced Repair Barrier Cream ($85). I recently had a few cases of eczema flares up and it left a lot of dry patches & irritation on my face.
The barrier cream really helped with calming down my skin due to the colloidal oatmeal that’s known for intense repair and relief.
The last viral makeup/skincare trend I tried was skin slugging. It was a skincare trend/technique to help the skin restore its barrier and prevent water loss.
The technique involves slathering the face with Vaseline or any occlusive product as the last step in your evening routine.
The last beauty product I bought was M.A.C Cosmetic’s Matte Lipstick in Marrakesh ($37). It has been a shade that I’ve been eyeing for years ever since I started to play with make-up.
It is a gorgeous mix of brown, orange and a little red and it has my favourite finish, which is matte.
The last beauty product I bought again was Milani’s Make It Last Setting Spray ($25). This is my go-to setting spray that melts all my make-up which I always gravitate to no matter how many setting sprays I’ve tried.
It lets my makeup last in a way where it makes my skin glower the longer I wear it throughout the day.
The last beauty product I made my holy grail was the Glow Recipe Plump Plump Hyaluronic Serum ($74). My skin has been needing a lot of hydration after dealing with dry patches and repairing my skin barrier and this serum genuinely plumps up my skin every time I use it.
The last beauty product I gifted someone was the Glow Recipe Plump Plump Hyaluronic Serum ($74). I had an extra serum and I knew my bestie would love it for her skin so I had to share the magic.
The last beauty product that truly impressed me was Kiehl’s Micro-Dose Anti-Ageing Retinol Serum ($99). As someone who struggles with acne, I’m very wary of products that might have the potential to aggravate my skin but upon further research, the product markets to be beginner friendly.
It has one of the lowest retinol percentages I’ve seen in the market and after trying it out on my skin for a few weeks, my skin changed tremendously
The last beauty indulgence I treated myself to was an oversea spa vacation. I haven’t travelled for the past three years ever since COVID-19 hit and I knew that I needed some me time to recuperate.
The last image I looked at for beauty inspiration was an eyeshadow look. I love looking at eye looks and graphic liner photos and I love to see the skills people share online!
The last makeup/skincare trick I taught someone was to blend out your blush into your bronzer and next into your temples. It makes a seamless transition between your base while adding colour to your face. Adding it to your temples also helps bring the warmth of your face to the next level.
