At GRAZIA Singapore HQ, the old excites us as much as the new and in this weekly column, we ask our fellow friends, industry-goers and beauty aficionados about the last thing they loved be it trends, products, or even the image they looked at when it came to inspiring themselves.
Here, content creator and model Dee Alimin (@deealimin) shares some of her lasts.
The last beauty product I finished was the Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution ($132 for 50ml). Hands down, best product I’ve used for hyperpigmentation and dark spots.
It contains Vitamin C so I apply it in the morning to help protect my skin from UV rays.
The last viral makeup/skincare trend I tried was underpainting and I love it! It’s a makeup technique that was popularised by Mary Philips where you contour, highlight and blush under your foundation.
It creates a seamless and filtered skin finish, but you really have to trust the process.
The last beauty product I bought was the Smash Beauty Duo Base Multi Stick in 204 Walnut Brown (RM$45, about SGD$13). I was looking for a cream contour stick when I wanted to try out underpainting and it was hard to find a contour shade that suited my skin tone.
Everything was either too light or too dark until I found this.
The last image I looked at for beauty inspiration was latte makeup. This is a new term for a TikTok trend and its actually just bronzed makeup. It’s funny how trends recycle with a different name but it does serve as a reminder for me to try out an old style that I would have otherwise forgotten.
The last beauty product I bought again was Drunk Elephant’s B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum ($74). I’ve been struggling with dehydrated skin, which also led to my makeup cracking. This serum has kept my skin feeling hydrated and looking plump.
The best part is that a little goes a long way with this serum so I don’t have to stock up too often!
The last beauty indulgence I treated myself to was a lash lift! I usually get them done only before I travel because it saves me so much time getting ready. But I’ve recently been doing them regularly and it’s become my favourite high maintenance thing that I do to be low maintenance.
Just be sure to get them done by a certified lash technician to avoid lash breakage.
The last beauty product I made a holy grail was the Fenty Skin Melt Awf Jelly Oil Makeup-Melting Cleanser ($50). I couldn’t shut up about this the first week I got it because it’s that good. I’ve always struggled with finding a makeup remover that is heavy-duty but isn’t too oily.
The texture feels like gel at first and then it emulsifies into a lightweight oil. I love how it just melts your makeup and pulls out the gunk from your face.
The last beauty product I gifted someone was Ultra Violette’s Day Dream SPF50 Tinted Veil Sunscreen ($58). I was using this religiously in Bali earlier this year and I never stopped since. So when one of my friends ’ birthday came around, I got her one to use daily. Needless to say, we’re both a fan now.
The last beauty product that truly impressed me was the FOREO UFO 2 ($488). To be honest, I was sceptical when I first tried it but pairing this device with the Make My Day mask made my skin look so supple and soft even until the next day.
The best part is that it comes with an app so you can customise the pulsations, temperature and LED light treatments.
The last makeup/skincare trick I taught someone was how to colour-correct their under eyes. Both my mom and I have dark undereyes and I taught my mom how to colour correct as it helps minimise its appearance without having to layer foundation on.
