At GRAZIA Singapore HQ, the old excites us as much as the new and in this weekly column, we ask our fellow friends, industry-goers and beauty aficionados about the last thing they loved be it trends, products, or even the image they looked at when it came to inspiring themselves.
Here, Alyssa Johaan (@alyssajohaan), a content creator and Marketing & Creative Lead shares some of her lasts.
The last beauty product I finished was Refy’s Lip Gloss in the shade “Dusk” ($28). I love lip products, especially lip gloss or lip balms to keep my lips moisturized throughout the day and I have this tendency of applying them every 10 minutes.
I specifically love the Refy Lip Gloss because of its applicator and how smooth and easy it is. Plus, the shade dusk keeps it neutral yet gives a pop of colour.
The last viral makeup/skincare trend I tried was coloured Mascara! I tried on a coloured mascara by Hermès Beauty in the shade Bleu Encre ($114). I never thought much of coloured mascara before as I’ve always enjoyed my mascara products to be very neutral but this was a fun change, especially on a night out where you are dressed up a bit more!
The last beauty product I bought was the Saie Dew Blush in the shade “Rosy” (US$25, about SGD$33). Other than lip products, I love a good blush. I’ve heard so much about Saie’s liquid blush and how stunning the shade is so I’m excited to try it out!
The last image I looked at for beauty inspiration was one of Mimi Nguyen and Vanessa Hudgens. I believe it during the holiday season when I wanted to try a deep wine red look for the lips, so I saved some makeup looks from them with their choice of red lipstick and an overall look that complemented the shade!
The last beauty product I bought again was Refy’s Lip Gloss! I loved using the first one I bought and knew it was a shade and product I would be using again and again.
The last beauty indulgence I treated myself to was the Sporty & Rich Nourishing Body Oil (US$48, about SGD$75)! I recently visited their store and it was such an innovative store concept. I personally love body oils but I don’t use them as daily as I prefer to keep my body oil products for when I really need to indulge in a good self-care session.
I also love sweet notes of vanilla and coconut and this body oil was exactly that. The product is also very sleek, and pretty and works perfectly on your hair too!
The last beauty products I made a holy grail are ones I won’t skip out on and will always remember to pack with me when I’m travelling. The first would be Chuck’s Toner Pads ($42)—there is something so soothing about these pads on my skin that I enjoy.
The second would be Cuura’s Aqua Boost Moisturiser (RM$89, about $26), a gel-based face cream that gives good hydration. I apply this every night before bed.
The last beauty product I gifted someone was Glossier’s Balm Dotcom in Hot Cocoa ($23) to my mum who loves a good cup of hot cocoa! It was Glossier’s exclusive holiday shade and also, was a little present for my mum to embrace the little things she loves in a way that she can also carry around.
The last beauty product that truly impressed me was the Handmade Heroes Oat Mighty Cleansing Balm ($16.90)! I love a good cleanser balm and this has helped to cleanse my skin so well, especially after a long day. It also leaves my skin feeling extra soft and moisturised after a good wash.
The last makeup/skincare trick I taught someone was to always double or triple cleanse their face! And, to not leave out the toner step. I believe in taking your time during your skincare routine, especially at night before you let your body and skin rest after an active day.
