The beauty moments seen on the Fall/Winter 2024 runways were all about bold choices, so take the chance to experiment with striking details and dazzling pops of colour. After all, in the beauty department, it’s all about maximum creativity.
Draw inspiration from the runways of Dior, Luar, Moschino and more, as we explore the boldest beauty looks of the season, and how to weave those wild details into the everyday.
In The Shadows
Get inspired by the beauty looks at Adrian Appiolaza’s campy debut collection for Moschino, where dark shadows were used to intensify the face, paired with suitably sleek slicked-back hair. Achieve the look with half the effort by using a true-black eyeliner to draw a thick line before smudging it all out. Precision is not what you’re after here. Finish off your look by playing with moody, silver tones on your nails or even on the lips to channel Appiolaza’s bedazzled collection.
Powerful In Pink
Call it the Barbie effect: a burst of pink was spotted on makeup looks all over the runways this season. Take it from Dior, which featured a bright pink hue on its models’ eyes this season. It’s the age of the hyper-feminine. Whether you choose fuschia, rose or flamingo, embrace the playfulness and strength of the romantic shade for your next makeup look. Steer into the skid by keeping it monochromatic, and watch as your glam becomes effortlessly polished.
Out Of This World
In a world full of no-makeup makeup looks, the otherworldly beings with piercing yellow eyes and spidery purple lashes seen at Diesel’s Fall/Winter 2024 show were guaranteed instant virality and hype. Allow the same thirst for creativity to drive you this season: Commit to a bold hair colour, or let your lips do the talking. Experiment with different shades of lipstick—blue, purple, black—or add some interest with graphic details instead.
Doom, Gloom And Boom
Subversive, sculptural hair and statement lips twisted the mood with a hint of grunge at Thom Browne, whose dark collection was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe’s poem The Raven. Scale this moody look for the everyday by simply wearing a vampy lip. The devil is in the details—keep the edges clean, then top it off with a high-shine gloss for some quiet allure.
More Is More
At Luar, self-expression was the name of the game. Designer Raul Lopez introduced more sprightly shades for his beauty looks with bright turquoise and refreshing citrus hues on the eyelids. While maximalism may seem daunting, when in doubt, start small. Pair pastel tints with chunky 3D charms on the nails for claws that are loud and proud.
