SEA CUCUMBER COLLAGEN IS THE LATEST HERO INGREDIENT DISRUPTING THE SKINCARE INDUSTRY

Australian skincare brand Bescher is harnessing the power of the unusual ingredient to deliver healthy, hydrated skin in a bottle.

It’s hard not to get overwhelmed when it comes to skincare with new products popping up quicker than we can scroll through TikTok. But one brand that’s cutting through the hype is Bescher, whose hero ingredient — sea cucumber collagen — is revolutionising the industry with its transformative, skin-healing benefits.

And although sea cucumber collagen in skincare may be news to our ears, it’s a long-held beauty secret in the Pacific Islands. In fact, that’s where Bescher’s founder, Renee Alyce first came across the wonder ingredient when she was living off the grid on a remote island of Fiji ten years ago.

After being plagued with a tropical skin infection that conventional medicines were not helping, she decided to follow local wisdom, applying the inner layers of the sea cucumber topically to her wound. It healed soon after. Since then, Alyce was determined to introduce this wonder ingredient to the world, which is why she started Bescher.

Sea cucumbers have long fascinated scientists thanks to their ability to regenerate and flourish in less-than-ideal environments. They contain a unique connective tissue that’s a source of collagen which aids in tissue repair–making it the perfect hero ingredient in skincare. Sea cucumber collagen helps to reduce the appearance of acne, inflammation, scarring, and dark spots, while hydrating and plumping the skin at the same time. Thanks to its potent ability to repair skin, Bescher opted to use sea cucumber collagen as the basis of all of its products

Bescher has four products in its Sea Cucumber Collagen range — the Regeneration Serum, Blemish Defence Serum, Anti-Ageing Cream, and a Calming Cream. The brand has received rave reviews from customers including mums who have used it to clear up a child’s eczema and women who have gone makeup-free for the first time on account of their improved skin.

Bescher’s skincare also contains vitamin B3, hyaluronic acid, and papaya fruit extract to help boost cell turnover, and it’s formulated without any silicones, sulphates, parabens, dyes, chemical sunscreens, or SLS. It’s also not tested on animals and its packaging is 100% recyclable.
